Sun. December 18, 2011:    What a feast last night! We all had more than we needed out of the Buffet. Today we are enjoying the football games and making good time for home. This annual Avet Sponsored Larry Brown trip is extended to a 14 day next year which will add another day of fishing time for our anglers and friends. The trip was excellent this year and last. This year we have 2 RSW wells full of trophy Yellow fin Tuna and 1 deck freezer full as well. The friends we have on board made this adventure a real blast for all. It was just one of those trips were everyone was having a great time everyday enjoying their fishing vacation. Many new personal bests were landed, Cows, Supercow, Wahoo and Dorado provided all the action we needed for a very successful trip. A big congratulations goes out to David Berutich for landing his "Bucket List" and fish of a lifetime SUPERCOW which also awarded him a $300 deposit for his trip next year landing the first Tuna over 200 lbs. for the trip. Intrepid CowBell Award winners were Mike Pihl for his outstanding sportsmanship and Craig "hot stick" Sauter, who quietly and methodically, was hooked up to one personal best after another. We had 11 of our Anglers catch a personal best over the last 13 day's. A tremendous success to say the least, some Christmas presents come early. "The Intrepid Team"

The Intrepid Team would like to wish everyone A VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON.

E.T.A 7:30 Monday morning.

Sat. December 17, 2011:    Another day of great traveling conditions. We got our vessel all scrubbed up and started on some other boat projects while we have flat sea's. We will enjoy our Sunday football tomorrow along with some poker and cribbage games. Tonight we are preparing to sit down to our Seafood Buffet Dinner. Enjoy the photo's. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. December 16, 2011:    Nice travel weather as we make our way North bound for home. The day was spent breaking down the heavy gear, resting, relaxing, some cribbage games, and reliving some of the great battles during the week down there. We will post up pictures each day trying to get everyone on the site with at least one of their nice fish and great smiles. If you can fit it in your schedule, we have 5 spots open on our 11 day adventure departing the day after Christmas that will be going back down to Clarion for more trophy Tuna fishing. So jump on board with Wahoodad and Izorline and try for your fish of a lifetime. Give Carol a call @ 1-877-686-7827 "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. December 15, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today started out like many of the day's before, good sign of fish early on and some of them on the larger side. Another 22 of these quality Yellow fin would join us throughout the day, several pushing the magical 200 pound mark and all of them over a hundred. Of course with big fish comes (at times) big heart breaks and one will stand out in our minds for a long time. Angler Mike Pihl hooked in to a fish early this morning and was locked in an epic battle Man VS Fish. The fish quickly took the upper hand dumping Mikes International in a matter of seconds getting down dangerously close to the spool several times before making a final run requiring the back up rod. Back up goes out and the fish continues on pulling, at times there are close to 700 yards of line out between the 2 reels and the fish continues to battle. We were able to get mikes rod and reel within feet of the Intrepid several times, the $1,000 rod and reel combo being at our finger tips and the fish still pulling. The fish made one more go at it dumping another hundred yards of line off the back up reel and then.... Gone. The fish found freedom. With so much line out and other vessels fishing in the area our best guess is that it finally chafed against another line or running gear. With almost half a mile of line out there is not much that can be done about it, the spectra had parted and the fish swam free. It's a part of Long Range Fishing and Mike had a great attitude saying "that fished earned every bit of it's freedom". It truly was a giant. A Tecate and a short break is all that it took, Mike walked to the rail and proceeded to kick the snot out of a 200 pounder. All in all we finished our trip with 181 Yellow fin a couple of Dorado and a handful of Wahoo. North we go. Our Anglers will have a few day's of story telling followed with our famous buffet and of course our Fillet Mignon and Lobster dinner. Life is good. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. December 14, 2011:    Our day started off with a few Nice fish right away at gray light, then settled into a slow pick for most of the day. Around 2 pm this afternoon things went off for us as we had a ripper bite on Tuna from 140 lbs. on up to 200 lbs. It was very exciting with the kite going full speed and the fly-lined sardine counting for most of the hook-ups. We have not had a bite like that for awhile, in 3 hours we boated 31 fish, all over 100 lbs. with most of them in the 140-180 lb. range and a couple over 200 lbs. New personal bests went to Bruce Saurer, Dave Henderson and Craig Sauter, who continues to be the hot stick of the trip boating 11 Tuna between 100-180 lbs so far. We didn't get many photo's during the bite as we were all very busy keeping up with things and getting the fish in the hold ASAP. Again we lost a few to the toothy critters and one Jumbo that was determined to live on, breaking off Dave Brewer some 400 yards out. We will enjoy a nice dinner, catch some bait and hope for this kind of action again tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. December 13, 2011:    We scratched out another nice day down here although the action was not at all the pace of yesterdays. We had a slow day overall until the evening bite came on where we had fast hook-ups for the last couple of hours. We lost a Jumbo Tuna that spooled a 50w Avet and got underneath another boat and we believe a hooked fish wrapped us and cut it off. It was a monster that we hooked on the kite!! Another big cow was eaten by sharks just off the stern to bring more heartache. The sharks definitely took their share from us today. We would end up with 21 nice Tuna for the day and it could have been much more, but again that's fishing.. During the slow time we took advantage of another tasty variety that lives down here. It was good fishing and everyone has some great table fair to take home...We will do it again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. December 12, 2011:     Today was a steady action day as our anglers landed 49 of these nice grade Yellow fin. The daylight bite was good, then we kept at least a fish or two hanging for the rest of the day. There were a few times however that they came in good and we would have 5 or 6 going at a time. Late in the day we a had visit from some hungry White Tip sharks that took away at least another dozen Tuna from us, but that's fishin.. Throw in a Wahoo or Dorado to stir up the mix and we had a fun time today. The Tuna were in the 80 to over 200 lbs. class with the majority around 130 lbs. with a handful of 160's and a couple of 180's. Several new personal bests came aboard and that is always a gratifying moment. Birthday boy Chef Paul Cloutier came out and got into the action landing a nice 130 lb. chunk fish. Happy Birthday Paul.. Going to re-supply the bait and do it again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

We still have a few spots available on the December 26th 11 day. How about spending New Years Day pulling on some Cow Tuna and Wahoo. This will be a great trip with Wahoodad and Shauna from Izorline and a wealth of knowledge from those already signed up...Give Carol a call @ 877-686-7827.

Sun. December 11, 2011:    Sunday Final Report :

We ended our day with over 40 nice Tuna 90-215 lbs. along with some smaller grade fish and a few bonus Wahoo. The morning was very good, but the rest of the day was kind of slow with a fish here or there. Late in the day we ran a long ways out to a big bird school that would turn out to be small grade fish, then back to the hot zone for a handful of fish in the 80-130 lb. range to finish up the day. Get to work making some bait and back at it again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. December 11, 2011:    We arrived yesterday around 0400 in time to catch some big baits to use during our first day here in the "zone". Fishing was a little tough to start out, but after searching around we found a nice spot of fish and picked away at the 100-150 lb. class Tuna all afternoon. Big fish honors of the day however, go to David Berutich who landed a new personal best and fish of a lifetime with a 310 lb. Super Cow. Dave caught the fish with an Avet 50w, 130 lb. Tuff Line Hollow Spectra with a 130 lb. Izorline topshot and a 10/0 Mustad matched with a Superseeker 6364xxxx Rod with a Flying fish for bait.. Also big fish and new personal best have come to Gary Arndt with his first Cow Tuna coming in this morning (our second day here) at 210 lbs. and another big boy to Cephus Daniels. At the time of this report 0800 we have boated 36 Tuna anywhere from 40 lbs. to 215 lbs. with gray light being very busy for us. We have another 4 days here at the island and hope to keep it rolling. Pictured with the supercow is Crewman Scott Shurko, Capt. Kevin Osborne and angler David Berutich. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. December 9, 2011:    A smooth, relaxing day of preparation on our final day of travel and we will begin fishing before daylight tomorrow. Yes, we have made great time getting down here and our passengers will benefit with more time at the rail. We will arrive in time to get a tank of big baits and then start our quest for Big Tuna. The weather is very nice, the friends, the food, the atmosphere here on the Intrepid is great as it always is, and we are looking forward to our week of fishing down here in Gods Country. Photo is of our gorgeous sunset this evening. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. December 7, 2011:    We departed yesterday on our Larry Brown / Avet 13 day with a great group of fisherman and are headed South with high hopes. Today was spent getting gear organized and also giving away lots of prizes, followed by a raffle to benefit the Marina Del Rey Youth Fishing Foundation. "The Intrepid Team"

We would like to thank the following sponsors:

Mon. December 5, 2011:    Well as we wrap up our International Cow Club 11 day we would like to say thank you to our passengers for a fun trip. A lot of searching was in order to find the good fishing conditions we ended up with. Were happy to say that everyone aboard was able to land one of those feisty Yellowfin during the last 11 day's. Our last night dinner as always is a beautiful Fillet and Lobster followed by Cheesecake. A special thank you to Conway Wines and Kristofer Jones for supplying their delicious Deep Sea red wine on our trips for all to enjoy.

ETA 0530 Tuesday morning. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. December 4, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today we rolled up the line in nice weather checking the Baja coastline for signs of Yellowtail. Lot's of bird life and Dolphin led us to a few schools of Bonito and Mackerel, but only a hand full of small Yellowtail were in the mix and were released to grow. We did stop at Cedros for some Calico Bass and stayed in the Lee of the Island while we enjoyed a delicious buffet prepared by our Chef's. The weather looks like it will be nice for our last day traveling North. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. December 3, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today was spent traveling North in very nice weather conditions. We will be trying for some more Yellowtail tomorrow to end our trip. Check back tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. December 2, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Once more we started our day out with great bottom fishing with a mix of Pargo, Snapper, Grouper , Yellowtail and Amberjack to 40 pounds. The Fisherman who put time in at the rail in the wee hours really put a good catch together. Then we went in to Yellow fin mode and made the best of it. A steady pick through out the day on fly lined bait as well as the kite kept us busy and every one of our passengers landed one of these quality Tuna before the day was over. Some of these fish are just down right mean. It's one thing to hook one of these beauties on 100 pound, but 60 and 80 seemed to be the ticket to getting bit. We were able to pick up just over 50 of these Yellow fin in the time that we spent here as well as a great assortment of other game fish. There will be time for another stop a long the way home, but it's time to start heading North. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. December 1, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today started off with Yellow fin putting on a show just after daylight and a couple of bites to follow. We landed a few fish in the 70 to 90 pound range as well as some more lunker Yellowtail, then the Skipjack took over. The Skippy's here are ferocious, they seem to have big eye's and big appetites, sometimes choking down 10'' mackerel. We decided to go offshore a ways and look for bird life with no success, so we came back in and got the anchor down for the afternoon. Time would not change the Skipjack issue, the hungry little striped things were back in full force and we could only try and deal with it. We managed to land another 7 fish before dark with a few finding there freedom. The fish this evening were a little on the larger size with Mike Lovelle landing a 135 pounder to end our day. We will be here again tomorrow, we have lot's of bait and hopes of no Skipjack. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. November 30, 2011:    Our persistence finally paid off. With changing conditions and the fish in the normal areas being less than user friendly, we decided to try something a little different and it paid off. We started with good Pargo fishing last night which turned in to good Yellowtail fishing just after breakfast. All of the Yellows were in the 25 to 40 pound class with some large Amberjack and Grouper attacking the dropper loop and Yo Yo jig as well. The bite stayed steady throughout the morning with some of the guy's finding themselves pinned to the rail as soon as they hit the bottom. Shortly after lunch we made a short move and found an area of quality Yellow fin that were just as hungry as the Yellowtail. Yellow fin in the 80 to 120 pound class put on a great show, with a couple of anglers landing as many as 4 of these trophy's. We did see sign of fish pushing the 200 pound mark, so we will definitely be giving this another day. Our weather is absolutely gorgeous and looks like it will stay that way for a while. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. November 29, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We started our day off anchored up in hopes for some big Tuna and had a couple of bites before daylight. Unfortunately both fish found freedom and apparently passed the word. We did have a little sign with the occasional boil around the boat but not much else, so we pulled anchor and went in search of. We found cleaner water in to the East that looked promising but did not produce what we were looking for, although there was sign of Dorado and plenty of Marlin. We will be changing areas tonight and will keep our fingers crossed. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. November 28, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We spent our day traveling South in very nice weather looking at several bird schools a long the way. We did see some sign of Tuna this morning on some Common Dolphin that did not want to cooperate, but were able to find some flotsam that was holding Dorado and Wahoo. A couple of Frigate birds pointed the way to Dorado leaping out of the water around a GIANT pile of rope. What looked to be a tow rope or ''Hawser'' about 4'' in diameter and several hundred feet long make a great place to find life offshore. Quality Dorado in the thousands as well as Wahoo, Marlin, Tripletail, Turtles and assorted Crabs called this mess home. There were so many Dorado on it that we were only able to hook a handful of the many Wahoo that were beneath it landing only one. Being a hazard to navigation is an understatement, and it's size and weight would make it impossible to bring aboard. Not to mention making lots of sea creatures homeless. So we did the only thing we could do and wrap it up as tight as possible making it a much smaller and somewhat solid object, put some markers in it and made a call out to boats that may be in the area. I'm sure we wont be the only fisherman to take advantage of this during its lifetime. We travel South some more. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. November 27, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Our morning started off with breezy conditions, there was enough wind out of the East to make it seem like we were going "Up Hill" most of the day. We had our Big Fish and Wahoo seminar, followed up with some give aways and Football to pass the morning. Our weather turned out to be down right nice before we arrived at the Uncle Sam Bank at 1530. We spent the rest of our afternoon picking up some Yellowtail and few Yellow fin for upcoming meals, as well as some Skipjack for chunks. We will be making a stop in Mag Bay for some Mackerel before continuing South in search of some bigger fish. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. November 26, 2011:    Hello Anglers. We departed yesterday on our annual International Cow Club 11 day trip and have been met with nice weather and a great group of people. A couple of seminars and some give aways by Mark Pierpont our Charter Master. We will be making our first stop tomorrow afternoon at the Ridge. We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. November 23, 2011:    We returned today from our Wahoodad 11 day trip. Jackpot winners : 1st place goes to Marilyn Reece with a 215 lb. YFT...2nd place was Jim Odlum with a 128 lb. YFT and 3rd place was Garth Kubeldis with a 115 lb. YFT. Marilyn also landed a 186 lb. YFT as pictured with Scott and Kona. What a great group of characters we have on this trip every year. We will depart Friday morning for another 11 day adventure with our International Cow Club group with high hopes."The Intrepid Team"

HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING

Tues. November 22, 2011:    A quick stop for some Yellowtails before finding a calm place to anchor up and enjoy our Seafood Buffet Dinner! What a great way to break up the travel up the line in bumpy, windy weather. Today we stopped for a few Cod before calling it a trip on the Wahoodad adventure. Summary of the trip would have to be Potential, as we found many different spots of big fish in several different areas that just wouldn't bite. There were days of foamers of big fish right next to the boat that had our baits landing in the middle of them only to watch them swim away without touching a single bait. We caught a few and lost a few others, but that's how big fish fishing is, and we concentrated only on Big Fish. This group is and has been a big fish group all the way and is only interested in the very large tuna. If you are interested in a shot at a 200 pounder then book a trip right away, because they are around in numbers and will go off very soon! A moment to thank our sponsors for the Wahoodad 11 day Adventure: Avet Reels, Seeker Fishing Rods, Salas Lures, Catchy Tackle, Seaguar,BHP Tackle,Sato Crimps & line winders, Okuma Reels, Five Star Fish Processing and Sportsman Seafoods. The Intrepid Thanks all of you for your support.. ETA 0600 Wednesday morning. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. November 20, 2011:     We opted for some different fishing today and found it to be a nice change of pace from the big-fish show. If you have been following the reports from the past week you probably realize that we saw a tremendous amount of big fish throughout the week. When they decide to get on the bite it will be Awesome to say the least. Some of the schools we metered were impressive (understatement) and it is only a matter of time before they really start to chew. With that being said, you might want to take a look at your schedule and book a trip as we have a few openings left on a couple of the up-coming COW Trips. Give Carol a call @ 1-877-686-7827. Side note: we still have spots available for our PANAMA Adventures this winter, it is sure to be a TRIP OF A LIFETIME!! "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. November 19, 2011:     What can I say, except we started our day with a spot of Tuna crashing into the boat chasing flyers, but they didn't want anything to do with us other than that. We saw some boils and a few fish around the boat, but only managed one bite out of it. We picked it up and went out on the hunt for big fish once again. Around midday one of the guys found a floating object that provided some very good action on Dorado, some small Tuna, a few Wahoo, including a couple of very small(juvenile) Wahoo that were released. Late in the day we were back in the zone and could see that there was a porpoise school with lots of bird activity with one other boat working it. We got up above them and realized that these fish were moving at very fast pace and it was a run and gun type of attempt for us. We hooked into one Tuna and one Marlin, although we could see that a few fish were being hooked, we were not as fortunate. It has been a very tough week for us on the big fish, we did find many spots of the trophies, but we didn't catch many. This group is one of the best at big fish and has several great catches in the last couple of seasons down here, but this trip was as tough as it gets for us on big tuna. These guys and gals never let up and never complained. What a great group!! Tomorrow we will look elsewhere for a little more action before calling it a trip and heading for home. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. November 18, 2011:    Our day started off just like we left it yesterday evening with Marilyn Reece hooking and landing another big Yellow fin around 5:45am. There were a few fish boiling around, but after daylight they seemed to disappear so we went back out on the hunt. It wasn't long before we found a good school of big fish, but they wouldn't bite for us, and so the day went from one school to another only to have them blow up and put on a show and swim away. We did find another ripper Dorado bite in the afternoon that provided all of that kind of action we wanted and we left them biting to hunt for more Tuna. Late in the day we came across a very good spot of big fish that erupted for us and we managed to hook into a large model, but the hook pulled after only 15 min. and that was our day.. There is more than enough sign around and in a spread out area that gives us plenty of hope for the next couple of days, they have to get on the bite sometime soon. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. November 17, 2011:     Today was more of the all show and little go type of Big Tuna fishing. We found several nice spots during the day and hooked into some big ones only to have heart breaks or pulled hooks. They are around and in a few different areas and if they decide to bite it will become some really good fishing with what we saw today. In the afternoon we hit a school of nice grade Dorado and quickly had our daily limits. Fishy Buzz would like to let everyone know that he put our friend Ray Jarvis's rod to good use landing some nice Bull Dorado with Ray's stick!! Marilyn Reece ended our day with a Cow she landed after dark and would like to give a shout out to her friend Valene Garrison..."WISH YOU WERE HERE VAL".. We will catch some squid tonight and try again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. November 16, 2011:    We managed to land only a few nice Tuna today. It wasn't for lack of fish or effort as there was some big shows put on by the Tuna through-out the day. We found some small foamer's of nice grade fish only to have them turn their noses up at our baits. We tossed everything onto them at times only to come up empty. Plenty of fish, plenty of time and a group that is set on big fish fishing. We will find some that want to bite. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. November 15, 2011:    We made it down to the lower banks around 1100 to find plenty of fish around but not willing to bite our hooked baits. We caught a handful of nice Dorado for the galley and one nice Tuna landed by "Silent Jim Odlum". There were times when the fish were crashing all around us and right next to the boat but they were very good about not getting hooked. We will try for some squid tonight and hope for better fishing tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. November 14, 2011:    A day of seminars, raffles and give-a-ways. We are all geared up and ready for the next week down here on the Lower Banks. Big winners today were David Tang "fishybuzz" winning a brand new Makaira 20 2speed loaded with spectra and a Wahoodad Topshot. Bill Jamison with a new Seeker Rod. Everyone was a winner from Seaguar Fluorocarbon along with many other sponsored gifts. The weather has come down and we are ready for battle starting tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. November 13, 2011: We had some wind and rain all yesterday afternoon and through the night. This morning came with more of the same, rain squalls, thunderstorms and plenty of mixed up sea's to go around. This afternoon things turned around for the better and we are enjoying a nice ride down once again. Tomorrow we will be concentrating on our Big Tuna gear and a couple of seminars to get us ready for this Wahoodad big fish adventure. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. November 12, 2011:    We returned today from our Larry Brown 10 day Open. Thank you Larry for putting together another great trip and sorry you could not make it. Also thanks to Phillip Bell for filling in for Larry. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Phillip Bell with his giant 95.4 lb. Wahoo...2nd Place goes to Jean Sauvageau with a 28.4 Yellowtail and 3rd Place goes to Jim Panek with a 24.6 lb. Yellowtail. We departed on our Wahoodad 11 day and will report back soon. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. November 11, 2011:    What a great way to wrap up our Larry Brown 10 day. We had to have had some of the best sunrise and sunsets I have ever seen during the last 10 day's. And the way that our weather has been over the last couple, you would never guess that we are in for another good one from Mother Nature. With absolutely no wind we bypassed the Halibut fishing and went and did a little "Coddin" above San Martin. Not only did we have good Red fishing and catch the biggest Olive Rockfish that I have ever seen, but a half dozen jumbo Yellowtail went along with the mix. I have done hundreds of whale watching trips in my time and I still think we take for granted the amount of marine mammals we come across while fishing. A great show by a Humpback that breached about 30 times in easy camera reach, Pacific Whiteside Dolphin, Pilot Whales, Minky Whales, Blue Whales and 2 different pods of Orcas. And that was just today. Gotta love it. And of course we would like to say a big "Thank You" to all of our Veterans out there. We do appreciate you.
ETA 0530 Saturday morning. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. November 10, 2011:    Good evening anglers. Today we experienced good Yellowtail fishing with some scenery to boot. The yo yo jig was the hot ticket to entice one of these quality Yellows to strike with some others coming by way of the dropper loop. Of course the Sea Lions played they're part throughout the day with the occasional "Tug O War" with the Dogs winning a few. We will be making a pit stop by San Martin tomorrow morning to see if we might be able to put a Halibut or two aboard before calling it a trip. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. November 9, 2011:    Another good day of fishing here aboard the Intrepid. Our morning started off a little slow, similar to yesterday. It seems that the time change has put the fish off, as it wasn't until about 0700 before they really got going. Yellow fin, Yellowtail and some assorted bottom fish kept us plenty busy until we called it at 1100 and started towards Benitos. We will be arriving at the Island around 0630 and will spend the day there trying to catch some bigger Yellows, we have a tank of assorted Mackerel and aren't afraid to use them. Tonight's dinner was a buffet featuring all the ham, oysters, crab, lobster, stir fry and desert you could have wanted. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. November 8, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today we were fortunate to wake up to nicer weather conditions and good fishing. We had a pretty steady Yellowtail bite up until lunch time and then made a short move to finish off our day with very good Yellow fin fishing. A flylined bait on 30 or 40 pound was the key to an instant Tuna and there were also several fish caught on the surface popper. We will be staying in the same area for the night and then part of the morning before heading to Benitos and some different scenery. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. November 7, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We started our day checking out some other big fish areas while working our way North in choppy weather. We did see some sign and very good water conditions to go with it but no takers. Most of our day was spent Northbound looking at several schools of Dorado that we are not in need of, but it's still great to see that kind of volume of fish fattening up for next year. We also trolled up more Wahoo that were hanging outside of a school of Dorado, but found our Marauder more appealing. We will be getting the anchor down around 0500 in hopes for some school size Tuna and some more Yellowtail. These Larry Brown trips are always full of give aways and raffle prizes to benefit the Youth Fishing Foundation. We would like to thank... Avet Reels, Booya, Body Glove, Baja Fish Gear, Big Hammer Swimbaits, Izorline, Sportfishing Magazine, Sportsmans Seafood, InvisaSwivel, Hightide Sportfishing, Holy Mackerel and HT Jigs, Long Range Sportfishing "San Diego Style" book, Aftco, Owner Hooks, AA Worms, Optimum Baits, Knot2Kinky Nickel Titanium Wire, Fisherman's Processing, Chuck Byron Art, MDRA and Western Outdoor News. Sun. November 6, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We spent most of today trying to entice bigger Tuna with no luck. There is a little bit of that nice grade Tuna around, but tough weather conditions took it's toll on us. Before we go in search of more variety we are going to check some of the other known Fall hot spots to keep them honest. Our weather is looking to get a bit nicer and we look forward to tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. November 5, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today started off with a pick on some nice grade Yellowtail and decent weather. So far the Yellow fishing is nothing like it has been throughout the summer and fall, but the ridge has been very good to us and has dished out more than it's fair share. We did spend the majority of our day in search of Dorado, with a lot of yacht traffic on the beach for the Tuna tournament it took some searching to find fish that were eager to bite. We found them. We found several small spots that had bait pushed up in to tight balls with Frigate birds initiating the aerial attack and Dorado that were to engorged to eat a sardine. But our persistence paid off and we lucked in to one that had all we could have wanted. A quick stop for some Mackerel and now we are once again headed south. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. November 4, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We arrived at our destination just after lunch and were welcomed to a showing on the Wahoo. Finding one of the shallows to ourselves, we made the best of it making several passes and not going long in between strikes. Typical Wahoo fishing, we lost more than we landed, but the action kept us on our toes. This is a Larry Brown/Avet trip that Larry could not make, but had L.A. Rod and Reel Club member Phillip Bell come as a fill in. Well Larry, Phillip landed 2 Wahoo today with one well in to the 80 pound range. Maybe bigger. There was a little sign of Bluefin as well as a sprinkling of Yellowtail and Grouper, but not enough to keep us here another day. South we go. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. November 3, 2011:    Travel, Raffle and Tackle. We are headed South with nice weather and great people. Today was spent getting gear together as well as a couple of seminars followed by a raffle including a new Avet LX reel. All proceeds from the raffle go to the Marina Del Rey Youth Fishing Program, to keep our sport alive well in to the future. We will be arriving at the North end of the Ridge just after lunch, with hopes of Yellowtail, Dorado and some Tuna. It sounds like there may be a little weather coming our way so we are going to take advantage of these conditions while we have them. Until Tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. November 2, 2011:    We returned today from our Stan Vanderburg / Rod and Reel Radio 10 day trip and unloaded a great catch of 7 Cows and 25 YFT from 60 to 194 lbs., along with Yellowtail, Bluefin Tuna, Wahoo and Dorado. These Fall trips are always great for the variety and when you throw in the chance for a fish of a lifetime Giant Yellowfin Tuna, it just doesn't get much better. Once again, if you want to get in on some of this action, you might try and find a trip that suits your schedule and get out here. Jackpot winners : 1st place goes to David Mosher with a 240.2 lb. YFT...2nd place was Ed Mark with a 232.4 lb. YFT and 3rd place was Jess Ysais with a 218 lb. YFT. The 4 other Cows went to Dennis Padget : 207.4 lbs. - Steve Metzler : 207.2 lbs. : Stan Vanderburg : 206.5 lbs. and Craig Norman : 204.0 lbs. We are headed South on our Larry Brown / Avet Reels 10 day trip and we will report back soon. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. November 1, 2011:    Last day of travel and our last opportunity to thank the rest of the many sponsors who chipped in for this 10 day Rod & Reel Radio trip with Stan Vanderburg and Co. Finishing off the list for starters is Big Hammer Baits, Xtreme Lube, Aquateko wire, Zip Vac, Sol sunscreen products, Irish Setter, Eco Drink Vit's/Electrolytes, Newell Reels, Five Star Fish Processing, Lula Cellars, Jan Kris Winery and Grand Island Wines. As you can see the amount of donations was huge for this one, everyone goes home with lots of memories and lots of gear for future trips. Another big thanks to Stan Vanderburg and Jeff Larson for their continued support and all the leg work they put into making this a great annual adventure. Special thanks to the "Conway Family Winery" for their sponsorship of the Intrepid with the "Deep Sea Reds" series of fantastic wines.. ETA 7:30am. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. October 31, 2011:    We are having a very nice ride up so far with light winds and calm seas. It's time to thank some of the many sponsors for our trip starting with Avet Reels and Seeker rods, Salas Jigs, Gamakatsu hooks, Ballyhood lures, Inox reel Lube, Leadmaster, Smittybelts, Maxima fishing line, Suffix Robo Worm, Tady jigs, Aftco, Sharkstooth Bands, Keep'n it Reel t-shirts, Braid Products and the list goes on and on with more tomorrow. A shout out from Mike Luther " Papa says Hi to all my Grandkids- Michael, Mason, Max and Paige". Hi to all my central coast fishing buddies, C.C and A Team D & G represented! Miss my wonderful wife of 41 years. Pam thanks for everything you do for me. A few shots from more of the nice Tuna some of our lucky anglers caught and a shot of Capt. Chad Smith who recently completed his captains coarse up in Long Beach. Congrats Chad. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. October 30, 2011:    Our morning produced another handful of these Big Tuna before we had to call it and head up the line. The wind came up a little and the current was back and forth, but the signs were still there and some nice Yellow fin were there to be had. What a wonderful 10 day fall trip this has been, with loads of fish, great variety and Trophy Tuna to top it off.. Highlight for me was my Father, Robert Osborne, who joined us for this adventure hooking and landing his first big Yellow fin. He got the bite on a live squid fished under the balloon late in the day yesterday. We are now traveling up against a steady breeze from the North, but the ride is nice. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. October 29, 2011:    IT IS ON! With a good morning hit and a steady pick through-out the day , we put together a very good day on these Big Yellow fin. By days end we had boated an even 30 Big-uns with 7 of them over 200 lbs. The average fish today was around 160 lbs. with the exception of 4 smaller grade that were 90-110 lbs. The kite rotation almost made it all the way around. We had only a couple of lost fish and are very happy with the hook to land ratio today. The guys really did a fantastic job with each and every fish. Another special thing today was the amount of first time big Tuna fisherman on this trip who landed a new personal best. It is always a great pleasure to have someone smiling ear to ear after landing their biggest fish ever. We are going to sit tight and give this a final morning before calling it a trip and heading for home. If you were waiting for the Cows to show before booking a trip, then wait no longer! Call Carol today @ 1-877-686-7827 as we have some openings on upcoming Cow Trips! "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. October 28, 2011:     We started our day on the Lower Banks searching for Tuna. The weather has come down and looking conditions are better than yesterday. We found two different spots of fish with some porpoise, but they didn't want to bite very well for us. Late in the day we arrived on the scene and found the Big Tuna a little more willing. We will sit tight tonight and hope for a good day tomorrow. Wish us Luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. October 27, 2011:     We started out our morning with a nice double jig strike on Wahoos and then trolled and looked for the rest of our day. We picked up a fish here and there, but never got onto a good school. We found a spot of porpoise late in the day that had a few Tuna on them, but didn't want anything to do with us. There was a stop for mixed Dorado action that saw many fish released to grow into bigger models. We will relocate tonight and try for Tuna again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. October 26, 2011:    What a great day of fishing! The weather is up a bit, but that didn't stop the Dorado and the Yellows from chewing all day long. We had an excellent day with limits of both Dorado and Yellows by days end. It was just a fun time as the swim-baits came out, the poppers came out and everyone enjoyed the non-stop action. Tonight we will make our way down to Mag Bay and catch a couple tanks of macks, then head out in search of Tuna and Wahoo for tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. October 25, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We arrived at the Ridge just before lunch and were welcomed with nice weather and descent fishing. The Yellowtail were all very nice grade, with most fish coming by way of yo yo jig and fly line. We were also fortunate enough to pick up several handfuls of Bluefin, as well as some Dorado. Kevin and Robert would like to say hi to the Ladies at home, with a couple of nice Bluefin coming to his Dad on the fly line. Until tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. October 24, 2011:    Today was spent enjoying the great weather as we roll south into warmer climates. We worked hard all day rigging and preparing tackle for the week of fishing ahead of us. Tackle seminars, making of wire leaders, kite gear, and making the one and only " Vanderbomb". Everyone had a fun time making up their own Wahoo bombs with terminal tackle provided by Stan himself. Friends Erik Bock and David Mosher treated the entire boat with fresh Abalone from Northern Cal. What a treat! We will begin the fishing part of this adventure tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. October 23, 2011:     We departed on our annual Rod & Reel Radio 10 day adventure with Stan Vanderburg and company. The weather is breezy with lots of fog, but we will soon leave this all behind as we head for the southern Baja fishing grounds. Another big Congratulations goes out to Hurricane Bill and his 304 lb. Super Cow and also a huge Thanks to Wayne Martin and the Intrepid crew for a most wonderful time on this 15 day voyage. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. October 22, 2011:    We returned today from our Catchy Tackle 15 day trip. Thank you Wayne Martin for putting together another outstanding trip. What a great group of anglers to vacation with. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Bill Goodwin with his 304 lb. Super Cow...2nd Place goes to James Beecher with his 261.6 lb. Cow and 3rd place Charles Lox with his 212.4 lb. Cow. What a great way to start the Fall season. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. October 21, 2011:    Last day of travel with smooth sea's to help us along the way. Everyone is enjoying some R & R along with a few poker games as we tend to the vessel and take care of routine maintenance projects with the extra time these last few days. The Intrepid Team would like to thank the Catchy Tackle Group for their sponsorship and support for this adventure, along with our other major sponsors: Avet Reels, Seeker Rods, Izorline, Seaguar Fluorocarbon and Mustad and Owner hooks. We would like to let everyone know that the outfit of choice for us is the Avet 50 narrow SDS Special matched with a Super-Seeker 2x4 and loaded with JB 130 spectra and 100 lb. Seaguar. It is a must have when targeting BIG Yellow fin Tuna. E.T.A 7am. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. October 20, 2011:     We just finished up stuffing ourselves with Javier's Seafood Buffet and oh man was it a good one. Pictured are Chefs Javier & Kyle behind the Seafood Mountain and Man of the hour Charter Master Wayne Martin behind one of the bottles of champagne presented to each table for the feast. The Catchy Tackle jigs were very good to us on this trip as we boated Wahoo and Tuna alike with the fine jigs provided by The Catchy Tackle Gang, Thanks Drew for setting us up.. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. October 19, 2011:    HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Wayne Martin. We are traveling home and catching up on our rest. The poker games will start up after lunch along with some movie watching. The weather isn't to bad, but does have a little chop to it and feels like the normal uphill ride. Today's photo's are from our night bite we had out at the Hurricane bank on both the sardine and the PL 68's. It sure is fun to hook into Big Yellow fin on the jigs, several of them were crazy, charge the boat, head shaking Tuna that would actually hit the side of the boat throwing up the whitewater as the gaffs sank into them. Tonight we will celebrate Wayne's B-Day Intrepid Style.. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. October 18, 2011:    We finished up our stay down here with a decent bite this morning and 18 more nice Tuna in the hold before calling it quits. Gerald Yoshida got things rolling early in the dark with a Kamikaze Yellowfin that ate a sardine and charged the boat, ripped across the stern and was gaffed in less than 3 minutes! Big fish of the morning went to James Beecher with a 260 lber and HOT STICK of the trip Chris Minnick boated yet another big Tuna to cap off a great trip for him. The sharks were there and we just had to battle through them to get a Tuna, but it was a nice way to end it.. We are now traveling North towards home in nice weather and will pick up some much needed R & R. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. October 17, 2011:     It was a slow day down here in the "zone" and what we did hook into was eaten for lunch by the sharks. They really put a hurt on us today as anything hooked that stayed in the water for more than 10 minutes was devoured. We picked up a few more Wahoo and did land a few nice grade Tuna in the 80-100 lb. class throughout the day. The evening bite was pretty good but again we had 2 large Cows lost to the sharks and we only got the heads back! OUCH! The weather is beautiful and the sea life was great. There is a pic of a big Manta but we failed to capture a good pic of the very large Whale Shark we encountered. We will make some bait and give this a final morning before calling it a trip. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. October 16, 2011:    A handful of beautiful larger Yellow fin this morning and a few Wahoo were all we put in the hold today. The showing of fish yesterday is still the hot topic around the boat as you do not witness that grade of fish along with the smaller ones blowing up for hundreds of yards in all directions. It was one of the best shows we have seen in a long time, flyer's running for their lives as the Tuna chased them down and attacked with such speed and force that they were doing back-flips after going air-born. Today was a different story though, the fish had left the Bank and moved offshore, the water had turned a little off color green and made for an easy decision to head back to the Buffer zone for our last day and a half. We will arrive just before daybreak and hope conditions are better than when we left a couple days ago. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. October 15, 2011:    Another good day for us on the Yellowfin down here as we put aboard 69 of these beauty's today. The majority of our fish were in the 50-90 lb. class, but there were 25 of them from 130-190 lbs. landed throughout the day and into dark. Chris Minnick put on a clinic with the PL68 landing 4 Tuna in a row from 80-140 lbs. on the jig after sunset. The weather is great, the company is great and the Tuna fishing is just what we came down here for. We will get cleaned up, enjoy some of Chef Javier's fine cuisine and then make some bait for tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. October 14, 2011:    Back in the game! What a contrast from yesterday to today. We found some big-uns and put together a very good day on these Trophy Tuna from 130-220 lbs. with 38 of them making it on board along with a couple of more handfuls of nice Wahoo. It was a steady pick bite for most of the day with 1-4 hanging at a time until this evening when things heated up and they put on a pretty nice show into the night. We caught fish with the balloon rig, sardines, chunks and the PL 68 counted for a few more at sunset. It was a fun day. Charter Master Wayne Martin hooked into a Cow this afternoon and George Alfaro ended the day with our last fish and another Cow Tuna. Phil Lisi was a hot stick right along with Ken Buzzell today each landing several big Yellowfin. We are catching some flyer's and more bait at the moment and hope to repeat tomorrow..Did we mention the weather??? Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. October 13, 2011:     Today was a slow day for us on the Tuna as conditions never came around for us. The current died yesterday afternoon and never came back on for us today. We did find some smaller grade Yellowfin under the birds, but never found any big boys. We spent the greater part of the day trolling around and hunting for Wahoo. The good news is that the weather has come down and is very comfortable. We will give it another go tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. October 12, 2011:    Morning Report:
Team Intrepid welcomed aboard their first Cow of the new season and it's a big one. Bill Goodwin landed a (taped out) 307 .5 lb. Super Cow at 7:30 am this morning while fishing with a big mackerel. Assisting Bill is crewman Scott Shurko. Congats Bill on a fish of a lifetime!!

   Evening Report:

We made it in time to catch a few big baits early this morning before sunrise and man did they pay off for us. The rest of the day was spent chasing down bird schools and making drifts with anywhere from 5-16 Tuna per drift. The majority of our fish today were smaller grade Tuna in the 40-80 lb. range, but there were a few good ones mixed in there as well. Like Chuck Lox hooking into a Cow and boating his first Cow Tuna after a long battle on the drift. We will try and catch some bait tonight and get ready for tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. October 11, 2011:    The breath taking sunset we were treated to this afternoon was awesome! As Tropical Storm Irwin heads to the East and gives us our window to get down to the fishing grounds, we can clearly see the edge of the storm out on the Southern horizon. The pictures really do not do the scenery justice, but will give you a good idea of how colorful the sky was this afternoon. We are ready and we hope the big Yellowfin are ready for us as well. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. October 9, 2011:    Good afternoon Anglers. Today started off traveling south in descent weather ( it's always nice going down swell) just above Alijos Rocks. Seminars and more give aways today as Wayne Martin and Catchy Tackle always make sure that everyone aboard is taken care of. Tee shirts, Jigs, Hooks, Coffee Cups you name it. And of course followed up by a little Football and Cocktails to end our day. The storms bellow look to be headed away from the promise land leaving us with high hopes and crossed fingers. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. October 8, 2011:     A full day of relaxation for the group and lots of rigging and making of new leaders for the crew. We are enjoying a nice ride down so far with light sea's and a slight breeze from the northwest. We will continue southbound tomorrow with a watchful eye on things down below and get the seminars going full speed. Tonight is a birthday celebration for crewman Dave Taylor and we will be enjoying a nice big cake from Chef Javier and maybe a friendly poker game. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. October 7, 2011:    We departed today on our Catchy Tackle 15 day adventure with Charter Master Wayne Martin and a group of fisherman extremely excited about the next 2 weeks of their vacation. Rest assured we will be keeping a close eye on Hurricane Jova and Tropical Storm Irwin during our voyage south. Look for pics and reports to follow... "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. October 5, 2011:    We finished up our trip offshore fishing kelps today for some Yellowtail of keeper size and hoards of smaller Yellows that were released to grow for another season. We also caught a few nice Dorado before calling it quits and heading for home. Our good friend "Scuba Steve" shows off one of today's Yellows and Hot Stick Ross Peterson adds another Dorado to his catch as Chartermaster Ken Bush poses with one of his Alijo's Tuna. The weather right now is flat and sunny skies as we make our way home. We want to thank the rest of our sponsors for this trip starting with BD Outdoors, Big Pancho Swimbaits, JRI Lures, Owner Hooks, Costa Del Mar Sunglasses, Don Castor, Fishingvideos.com, Five Star Fish processing and BloodyDecks.com. Thanks everyone for helping us make this another fun Intrepid Adventure........E.T.A 6:00am Thursday morning. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. October 4, 2011:    Travel day North bound for most of the day arriving at San Benito's Island around 5:00pm just in time to enjoy Chef Javier's Seafood Buffet in the lee of the island. After dinner we got on a spot of good grade Yellows and had a nice sundowner bite, before continuing up the line. Tomorrow we will troll and hunt the offshore waters for half a day before calling it a trip. A couple of pics of this evenings Yellows and a couple of Tuna pics from yesterday at the Rocks. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. October 3, 2011:    We scratched out another day here at the Rocks. We had a nice morning flurry that saw some very nice Tuna hit the deck and then the sharks had a flurry against us around midday and they took 6 or 7 fish in a row a couple of times during the day . The afternoon was a repeat of yesterday with a good showing of the quality Yellowfin, but getting a bite was a chore. You had to work at it in order to hook-up, but the reward of a Tuna from 60-100 lbs. was well worth it. It was tough fishing for the most part on the Tuna with a few dozen Yellows mixed in there. We are now traveling north and will be looking to stop on some kelps tomorrow along the way. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. October 2, 2011:    We made it out to the Rocks around 0800 and found that things have not changed out here very much. The place just didn't feel very fishy and there was not very much sign around. We did pick up one lone Wahoo as we searched the area. We found a small batch of Tuna and set up on them only to have the sharks get on us and take anything that was of any size. It was mid afternoon when conditions started to change and we found a different group of fish that started showing pretty good. The afternoon and evening was not too bad out here. We picked some nice Yellowfin, Amberjack, and more Yellowtail to round out the day. I would say it was a tough scratch bite, but if you worked at it you could hang a fish, the kite was able to catch a few as well. We will try for some squid tonight and try this again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. October 1, 2011:    Today was split into two different half's, our morning and first half of the day was with lots of quality Tails and Good Grade Dorado hitting the deck for all. It was steady fishing until the bite slowed and so did the anglers as they had all they wanted of those two types of fish. The only Wahoo that we hooked today tossed the jig back at us right next to the boat! The second half was a move offshore in search of Yellowfin for the rest of the afternoon without finding any Tuna. The conditions were there with beautiful water, porpoise all around, but no Tuna, so we are now on our way to a different zone. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. September 30, 2011:    What a great way to start the fishing part of this trip. We got stopped short of our destination on a kelp that got everyone's feet wet with the fast paced Dorado action and high flying jumps. When we did make it to our spot it didn't take to long to locate some good fish and the fishing we had this evening was very good. We ended our day with a mixed bag of Yellowtails, Yellowfin, Dorado, and some really nice Groupers. We will make a move tonight to a different area were we hope to have a fun day tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. September 29, 2011:     The day was spent with seminars and lots of raffles of all the new rods and gear brought out by Ken Bush, Miles Callison, and the Tuna Chasers. It was a very nice day of travel with beautiful weather and plenty of sunshine. We have all our gear ready to go and will begin fishing tomorrow around 1200. The sponsors for this trip are again numerous and we would like to thank a few of them each day starting with The Tuna Chasers, Ken Bush Custom Rods, Squidco, Phoenix Rods, Chuck and Lori Byron and the Youth Art Foundation. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. September 28, 2011:     We departed today on our 3rd annual Ken Bush Custom Rods 8 day Charter with a fun group of anglers and friends. Ken and Miles always bring lots of great rods and reels to be raffled off and this year is no exception. They have gone all out with some beautiful rods wrapped up for this trip. The weather is very nice right now and we are enjoying the smooth ride down. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. September 27, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We unfortunately had to end our Fisherman's Warehouse trip a day early do to a unfortunate incident. In all, the time we spent fishing was phenomenal. The Dorado and Yellowtail fishing cannot get any better. We traveled a fair distance to find such fishing and I would have loved to finish off the trip with some Tuna, but an accident involving our chefs assistant brought the trip in a day early. There is a lot that goes in to putting a successful long range trip together. It is not quite the point and shoot that some would like to think. Hurricane Hilary definitely came in to play as well as the normal 20 + knots of west wind that can be had on any given trip, but these are things that long range captains expect. A crew member having to be air lifted 230 miles from home due to a serious injury is something that we (as sport boat captains) have come to accept as part of our unique occupation. We appreciate all of you that fish with us and would go the extra mile for any one of you and that definitely includes our crew. It's not Macrame, its Long Range Fishing and we love it.

Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Scott Yamashits - 32.4 lb. Dorado...2nd and 3rd Place tie goes to Grant Melander and Ed Gonzales with 28.4 lb. Yellowtail. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. September 25, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today was spent traveling North in very windy conditions. With Hurricane Hilary behind us and plenty of Northwest wind a head of us we settled in for a good day of football. Lunch was a tasty Chile Rellano with rice and beans. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. September 24, 2011:    Just Outstanding.

That's how to describe this mornings bite. The Yellows started to bite at around 0500 for the few early risers, with the Dorado not far behind. The Dorado bit as well as we have ever seen with hundreds jumping out of the water and fighting over the baits that hit the surface. We picked through the feisty Flats for a couple of hours. They would not leave. It's definitely a different day and age of sport fishing with our anglers thinking of our future and keeping the "SPORT" in sport fishing by keeping what they need and releasing the rest. Dorado are not the easiest fish to un-hook and release, but with a pair of gloves and a steady hand we do have great success. Many of our anglers just sat back and watched a couple of talented jig slinger's up in the bow put on a great show with hook less jigs, at times having as many as 30 fish trying to eat them. After the Dorado slowed down, dropping to the bottom with a live bait turned in to an instant 20 to 30 pound Yellowtail. It's hard to find an average as nice as what we saw today, anywhere. It was just outstanding. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. September 23, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We arrived at the ridge in the early afternoon and we were greeted by some eager Yellowtail. We did have to pick through them a bit in order to find the nicer ones, but it was a nice way to end our travels. We also put some Bluefin, Yellowfin and Dorado in the RSW as well making for a great day. Tonight's dinner... New York Strip. Ouch! "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. September 22, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today we traveled South in nice weather with our Pacific White Side Dolphin escort. We spent time getting rigged and ready after a seminar covering all the basics of Ridge fishing. We dipped in to Benito's for about an hour and picked up some Rockfish for tonight's dinner. Tomorrow will be spent rolling down the beach. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. September 21, 2011:    We returned today from our Seaguar, Newell, Hightower 8 day trip. Thank you Richard for putting together another great trip. The variety on this trip was awesome. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Young Min - 31.2 lb. Yellowtail...2nd and 3rd Place tie goes to Cindy Lau and Joel Norman with 30.2 lb. YFT. We departed on our Fisherman's Warehouse 7 day and will report back soon. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. September 20, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We spent most of today in the 150 mile zone looking for Tuna Fish and found great success. The counts in the area lately have been up and down, but if you find the right one, it's game on. After a kelp for 25 mixed fish early in the morning, we spent a couple of hours with very little sign. All it took was a few Skip Jack puddling around to spark our interest. Within seconds it was full speed Yellowfin right on the corner, with a surprising amount in the 20 pound class. After 2 hours it slowed down and we kicked it for home with a happy and bloodied group of fisherman. It has been a very fun 8 day's, filled with some great catches and lot's of variety. Our ETA to the dock is 0600. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. September 19, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today was spent traveling North in descent weather to put ourselves in position to fish Yellowfin and Bluefin for our last day. We did manage to jig up a few , but for the most part it was a travel day. On these day's of rest ( for our anglers ) we would like to give a shout out to our loyal crew. Around the clock 7 day's a week you can find us at work, fishing or not. There is always work to be done. Thanks guy's. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. September 18, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Well, I have good news regarding the sharks at Alijos Rocks. Most of them seem to have left the shallows and it appears that most of the Yellowfin have followed. We had to give it a check. It's going to bite again, just not today. We did manage to catch 6 Tuna, as well as some Cabrilla to up the variety even more. We are now headed up the line and will keep our eye's open for kelp's and possibly some more Tuna. Our weather has become nicer and looks like it will continue to keep coming down with a High pressure system moving in. Until tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. September 17, 2011:    Good evening Anglers Today we had great Yellowtail fishing on a nicer grade of fish as well as some more Grouper to go with them. The dropper loop with a Spanish Mackerel was the hot ticket for the larger models. We also picked up some more Dorado while trolling around, but were unable to find any Wahoo. With our fill of Yellows and Dorado we are going to make a little move tonight and see if we can locate some different species. Our weather has been on the breezy side, but will hopefully change soon. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. September 16, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. What a great day of fishing. The variety available on these trips down the beach is nothing short of amazing. Bluefin, Yellowfin, Dorado, Grouper, Yellowtail, Pargo and Wahoo are all here to be had by the fisherman who ride with us. Having 8 anglers hooked up at the same time with just as many species is not all that uncommon. It's nice to see more Yellowfin starting to show up to go with the half dozen Bluefin that also came aboard. Grouper fishing continues to be very consistent as well, proving the amount of fish in the area. All of our smaller grouper (as pictured below) as well as some in the 30 pound class are being released to keep the fishery alive and available for future trips. Our weather has been descent and we will see what tomorrow will bring. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. September 15, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. We spent our day traveling south along the beach and checking out a few of the high spots. We had a few jig strikes here and there on Dorado and Yellowfin but no mass to any if it... Until after lunch. As we were coming off the top of one of the banks we looked over the side to see hundreds of Dorado. As we stopped the boat they charged the corner eating everything available and putting on they're typical show. Most of the fish were smaller than what we were looking for and the majority were released. There were some keepers mixed in and some went to the galley, but it was a great show none the less. Towards the end we all stopped fishing to sit and watch the show put on as we continued to hand feed and video the action. They are definitely very visual fish to watch. We will be arriving at another destination tonight and will see what tomorrow has to bring. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. September 14, 2011:    Good evening Anglers.. Today was spent traveling South in gorgeous weather. We trolled by several kelps holding smaller fish which were released, but did pick up a couple of nicer grade fish that were donated to the chefs for sushi tomorrow. Tonight's dinner was Prime Rib with Apple Pie Ala mode for desert. Ouch! We will be checking out some of the beach in the morning before getting to the Ridge. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. September 13, 2011:    We returned today from our Anglers Choice 8 day trip. Thank you Luc Ofield for putting together another great trip. We look forward to seeing you all again soon. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Terry Wehrly - 55.8 lb. Wahoo...2nd Place : Danny O'Leary - 37 lb. Wahoo...and 3rd Place : Dan Taylor - 32.6 lb. Wahoo. Also pictured is Marcus Boutros with his 77.4 lb. Grouper. We departed on our annual Seaguar, Newell, Hightower 8 day trip with a great group of guys. Bait went smooth and our weather is perfect. We would also like to say thank you to Tara Smith for letting husband Kerme go fishing on his 23rd anniversary. Please buy something nice for yourself. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. September 12, 2011:    Our day started along the coastline with a beautiful sunrise. We made a few drifts for Halibut with no success and then headed to one of our Cod spots. When we sent our baits down they were attacked by Squid so we took the opportunity to load up on the perfect sized kite baits for future trips. It was all laughter and yelling as the squirting began and everyone was showered. We thank all of our anglers who more than eager to help out on the candy baits for future trips. A HUGE Thanks to Luc Ofield and ANGLERS CHOICE TACKLE for their support and such a great time on this 8 day adventure. Luc continues to amaze us every trip with his generosity and the amount of swag he brings along his trips. Everyone on board goes home a winner on one of Luc's trips. This trip was a great catching trip with lots of different species and several WFO bites throughout the week with many anglers landing either their first ever Grouper or Wahoo!! ETA 7:00am "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. September 11, 2011:   On this 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy our hearts go out to the Victims and the Hero's. God Bless you all and God Bless America.

We made it up to the Tuna grounds around 11:00 this morning and began our hunting. It didn't take very long before one of the guys spotted some fish and we started catching some Yellowfin. For the rest of the day we would stop every 1/2 hr or less and catch anywhere from 12-40 Yellowfin per stop. We would end up catching our daily limit of Tuna today along with a handful of nice Dorado in perfect weather. Pics today are some of our happy Friends this evening relaxing and having a nice Martini while watching the football game on the big screen T.V. Dinner tonight was Javier's famous Wahoo Enchiladas. Life is good. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. September 10, 2011:    As we travel up the line we enjoyed a beautiful fall like day with great weather and good times. Our day was spent rigging up new top-shots and getting ready for some Tuna hunting tomorrow. Our evening was a feast with Chefs Javier and Hector putting out the big buffet style dinner..Tomorrow we will target Bluefin and Yellowfin. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. September 9, 2011:    We made our move last night and found the temp break we were looking for and shut down. When we looked outside the wheelhouse door this morning at 4:30am it was very easy to see that we had chosen the right place to stop. There were lots of big Dorado cruising around us. From 5:00am until 9:00am it was wide open Dorado fishing for an excellent grade of fish in the 18-30lb class with many nice Bulls being caught. We ended the bite with limits for all aboard. Birthday boy chef Hector Quintanar got in on the action this morning..So at that point we went out on the hunt for some Wahoo, and Wahoo we found. The size of these Hoo's is very impressive with some of them going around 50-60lbs and the majority in the 40lb class. We found a few different Wolf-Packs throughout the day and ended up putting together another great day of fishing. With three full days of catching behind us we are on the move North in order to get up to the Tuna grounds for the last day and a half of this already great Anglers Choice 8 day adventure. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. September 8, 2011:    National Geographic Day for all of us here on the Intrepid.. We witnessed one of the Oceans rare events today as 4 Giant Whale Sharks swam around us throughout the morning. This was an incredible site! One of the Whale Sharks came up to the side of the vessel and then got under and scratched its back on the bottom with half its 40 foot body showing over the side of the boat! WOW! Fishing was again WFO for us and started right after daylight with many Big Tails and Groupers hitting the deck. By 10:00am we had all we wanted and our anglers were in need of a break so we went out on the hunt. It wasn't to long before we found another school of fish and put a few Yellowfin on board, but again they did not stick around long. The afternoon was on the slow side considering what we have had in the last 24 hours as we didn't find any kelps holding Dorado. Tomorrow we will be offshore looking for Tuna and Dorado. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. September 7, 2011:     We found an area of Yellowfin this morning and began to pick up a few here and there, unfortunately there were several large seiner's in the zone working very hard and the Tuna were not very eager to stick around the boat. We stopped a few times and boated a couple dozen Tuna in the 15-25 lb class and continued our travels. Around 2:00pm we made it to our destination and started what would become a ripper afternoon and evening of fishing. The Yellowtail fishing was off the hook and the grade was very nice as well. The Grouper fishing was also outstanding with everyone enjoying some action on the big bottom dwellers. Throw in a bonus Wahoo and the day couldn't be any better. We are currently making some bait and will start right here in the morning. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. September 6, 2011:    Travel day for us with our friends from Anglers Choice Tackle on our annual 8 day. We spent the day with seminars, music and some poker tournaments. It was a very relaxing way for all to enjoy the first day of their vacation. We did stop on a few kelps to catch some Yellowtail for the galley along the way. Tomorrow we will be looking in a different area to the south trying to locate some new offshore Yellowfin Tuna schools. Wish us luck.

Mon. September 5, 2011:    We returned today from our Catchy Tackle 8 day trip. Thank you Wayne Martin for putting together another fine trip. These trips are special and we look forward to them every year. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Harvey Rosen - 49.8 lb. BFT...2nd Place : Bill Hughes - 45.2 lb. BFT...and 3rd Place : Richard Ellis - 65 lb. Grouper (not pictured). Honorable mention goes to Josh White with his 45 lb. Wahoo. We departed on our Anglers Choice 8 day trip with Luc Ofield and his group. Check back for our daily reports and photos. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. September 4, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today for the most part was spent traveling North with a couple of Yellowfin and Dorado thrown in to the mix. Breakfast was Eggs Benedict, lunch was a seafood buffet along with Dorado Enchiladas and dinner was Fillet Mignon and Lobster. Ouch! We would like to say thank you to Wayne Martin, Catchy Tackle and all who fished with us for the last 8 day's, it was a real pleasure. Our ETA to the dock is 0600. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. September 3, 2011:    Today was spent traveling up the line in breezy conditions. The group spent most of the day playing poker with a couple of good tournaments going on. Tomorrow we will be fishing for Bluefin and Yellowfin for about half the day before having to call it a trip and heading for home. Tonights picture is of Crewman Chad Smith serving up a delicious Rack of Lamb dinner to Charter Master Wayne Martin. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. September 2, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today was spent fishing Alijos Rocks. It didn't take long to jig up our first Wahoo this morning as well as a bait fish, so we had hi hopes for the day. We got the anchor down and were treated to very good Tuna fishing. It was not uncommon to have 3 or 4 fish hanging at the same time, most of which were in the 50 to 100 pound class. Sounds good right? Well.. the shark problem is still very alive and well out here. Throughout all of our efforts we were only able to land one of the nicer grade Yellowfin. We did pick away at some smaller fish that could be brought to the boat quickly, but if it took more than 50 feet of line it was gone. We also picked up a couple of jumbo Yellows, the big one being in the 50 pound class. Tomorrow will be spent North of here. We would love to stay and give the Rocks our last morning, but we will leave these Tuna to stay and fight another (hopefully shark less) day. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. September 1, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today was Dorado day. We had Dorado swimming around the boat before daylight. To them we must look like a big well lit kelp patty. A few DoDo's and several Yellowtail were released before we got the anchor up and started to look around. We found a few kelps that put out some quality Dorado. It's always neat to see Flats jumping out of the water half a mile before you get to the kelp and a real treat when the majority are this size. We spent a lot of time in blue 74 to 78 degree water with not one Wahoo or Tuna, so we are West bound for the remainder. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. August 31, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today we had great fishing down here with variety and some exotic's thrown in. Our morning started out with wide open Yellowtail fishing and the Yellows bit everything that we threw at them. The surface iron was a hit that also seemed to entice several Grouper to move in during the middle of the bite with some anglers (John Keeler) getting 5 in a row. The Grouper ranged anywhere from 15 to 70 pounds with all of the smaller ones being released as shown by Steph Merli pictured below. We even had a chance to get a father son picture with Evin and Steven Blatt. Young Evin had 3 in a row with 2 coming on the surface jig. All in all we released over 30 grouper and 1 Black Sea Bass giving them a chance to grow bigger and fight another day. Along with a sprinkling of Dorado it was a very fun filled day. Tomorrow will be spent trying to find some Tuna or possibly a Wahoo. Until then. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. August 29, 2011:    Good evening anglers. Today we spent about 6 hours in an area that has been producing good numbers of Yellowfin and Bluefin. The fishing has slowed from what it has been, but we were fortunate with the size of what we caught. Our Bluefin were in the 30 to 45 pound class and we also had a stop on Yellowfin up to 30 pounds. We left the area at lunch time and started our run South with a kelp patty dishing out a couple of nice Dorado as well as releasing about 30 Yellowtail on our way. Tomorrow will be spent fishing our way South toward the Ridge. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. August 28, 2011:    We arrived today from our San Bernardino Sheriff's 8 day trip. Thank you Gerrit for setting up this great group of friends with a wonderful trip. We look forward to seeing you guys next year on a 10 day Big fish trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Dennis Parham - 87.4 lb. YFT...2nd Place : Dennis Beene - 71.1 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place : Harrold Ruffner - 60.5 lb. YFT. We departed on our Catchy Tackle 8 day adventure with Wayne Martin and his gang. Check back for our daily reports and photos. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. August 27, 2011:     WOW! We finished up with a BANG on a Bluefin Tuna school that went absolutely WFO..It was as fast as you can imagine in the corner full speed Tuna Mayhem. We have not seen a Bluefin school bite like this in a long, long time. I really am having a hard time describing what happened on the back deck today, and the speed in which it happened. When it was over we had full limits of Tuna and drove away from them foaming off the stern. What a trip, limits of Tails and limits of Tuna along with a catch of Dorado. A big thanks to the Bernardino Sheriffs Department and their continued support with this their 3rd year on the Intrepid. You deserve a trip like this one guys. Javiers seafood buffet and wide open Bluefin Tuna fishing. It just doesn't get any better!! ETA 0545 Sunday. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. August 26, 2011:    Travel up today included stopping on kelps along the way. We found quite a few kelps today, some holding a fair number of Dorado and some holding only a few. We did have one kelp that was the mayhem Dorado stop we were looking for as multiple hook-ups were instant and everyone had their fill pulling and yelling as the Dorado's took to the air. There were also a few Yellowfin in the mix. We will continue up tonight and fish a half day offshore tomorrow before calling it a trip. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. August 25, 2011:     Tough fishing today with the sharks taking a big toll on us. We were on a good spot of nice grade Tuna, but the toothy critters were again in the mood to eat some fresh Yellowfin any chance they had. We did get some good ones through the gauntlet however and had a fun time doing so. The helium balloon was the ticket for us today as for whatever the reason the fish just didn't want the kite. Fly- line also accounted for many hook-ups as well. We are on our way North and will be looking for more kelps and trolling along the way. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. August 24, 2011:     The kelp hunting went well as we found many throughout the day. Bummer part was that they were not holding any good schools of Dorado or Wahoo for us. We went from kelp to kelp picking off a fish here and there to scratch out a day of it. The Flats were nice ones and will add some more variety to the trip and are always fun to catch. The weather couldn't be any nicer down here with flat sea's, sunny skies, good tunes provided by our "Outcast Sound System" and just a wonderful group of Friends to be with. The atmosphere was great. We will change locations and give it one more day down here before we head up the line. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. August 23, 2011:    It turned out to be a very fun and exciting day for us today. The Tuna were almost a complete no show with the exception of one lone Bluefin, but the Yellows absolutely exploded for us. The came through in waves and waves providing full speed action from 9:00am until dark. It was one of the best Yellowtail bites many have ever seen. Everything worked when they charged the boat, poppers, surface iron was on fire, swim baits were being inhaled, dead bait counted for some great laughter and quality tails. You get the picture, it was loads of fun. So with sore arms and tired anglers we are off to do some offshore kelp fishing in a different area and try to pick up some Dorado or Wahoo. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. August 22, 2011:    We made it to the Rocks around 10:30 am and found that conditions were not in our favor. With very little current and a steady wind blowing things didn't look very good or fishy you might say. It was after lunch when the current switched and we found a nice area of both Yellowfin and Yellowtail. We set up and began hooking Tuna in the 50-90 lb range along with Quality Yellows right away. Great! Wait a minute, what just happened to that kite fish, oh no another one hanging just lost. SHARKS, lots of them and very hungry came up and devoured everything we set a hook into. The fishing was good, with multiple hook-ups all evening long, but the sharks were relentless and never let a bigger Tuna through to the boat. How frustrating..We will see what we decide for tomorrows action.. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. August 21, 2011:     Travel day filled with seminars and rigging and lots of fun times with this San Bernardino Sheriffs Charter. We have made one stop picking up a handful Dorado for the galley today and will arrive at Alijos Rocks tomorrow around 10:00am. Both retired and present members of the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department on board our trip would like to dedicate this trip to the memory of Asst. Sheriff Jim Bradford who passed recently. Jim was a passionate outdoorsman who love to hunt and fish with his loved ones and his friends. He will be missed greatly by all that knew him. Our condolences to the Bradford Family. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. August 20, 2011:    We arrived home today from our Seeker 5 day Lupe trip. Thank you Seeker, Bryan , Dennis and all aboard for a fun trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : John Basmadjian - 86.2 lb. YFT...2nd Place : Bryan Porter - 81.4 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place : Greg Dulmage - 78.4 lb. YFT. Check out young Conner Morrison with his 86 lb. YFT. We departed on our San Bernardino Sheriff's Charter with Gerrit and his group. Check back for our daily reports and photos. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. August 19, 2011:    We managed to pick up some more Yellowtails on the kelps and some bonus Albacore for a lucky few. The Albies came by way of a single jig strike and then some bait fish. We are now on our way to Ensenada for the return check-in. We would like to give SEEKER RODS a big thanks for their support and sponsorship of this trip. The new Seeker Hercules 70h is an amazing stick for the size, it is very user friendly and easy to fish, but also has Super-Seeker strength and backbone for pulling on quality fish handling the 30 lb. Guadalupe Yellows with easy work. It's a must have for anyone who has the seeker rods collection! ETA 8:00 am "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. August 18, 2011:     We opted for another day here at Guadalupe and were treated to lots of Tuna crashing around the boat, but not very many biters. We did land a couple of Big Tuna and some more good grade Yellows before we went inside and had some fantastic WFO Calico Bass fishing that also had a mix of smaller Yellows in there. Last night we caught some big Yellows and Four More Giant Black Sea-Bass that were all released very successfully to fight another day. Overall picture here is good with lots of sign around. We feel it will bust loose once again for somebody in the near future. Tomorrow we will be offshore searching for a biting school before heading in for our return check-in at Ensenada. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. August 17, 2011:    Our first full day here at Guadalupe turned out to be a fun one even though the fish showed much more than their willingness to eat a hooked bait. We did however catch some very nice grade fish today in the form of Yellowfin up to 90 lbs. and Yellowtails up to 40 lbs. Highlight of the day was young Conner Morrison on his first Long Range Adventure landing a Yellowfin around 90 lbs. pictured with Co-charter master Brian Porter who handed the fish off to Conner. Brian was the hot stick today landing several nice Tuna and several big Tails. Also first time Long ranger Joseph Pagano landing a new personal best Yellowfin around 75 lbs. The night bite produced a couple of handfuls of Yellows in the 30 lb. class and a couple of Black Seabass, one of which was around 250 lbs. caught by co-charter master Dennis Kaneoka and was released in perfect condition as he powered his way down to the depths to be caught again someday. We will stay put and make some bait for tonight and give it a go again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. August 16, 2011:    Our first day of fishing on this Seeker 5 day adventure was split with some offshore style for school size Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna and some Island fishing. We were able to pick up fish on the troll and with the fly-line after the stops. The stops were short lived and produced only a handful of fish each time that were mostly on the small side, so we opted to continue on to Guadalupe for a few hours of fishing in the evening. We made it to the big island around 5:00pm and picked off some very nice grade Yellows on the Yo-Yo Iron and on fly-lined sardine's. We are currently catching some bait and are hoping for a night bite. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. August 15, 2011:    We arrived home today from our Amero Investments 4 day charter. What a great group to have on board. Thanks alot guys and see you next year. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Darrell Bolden - 42.6 lb. BFT...2nd Place : John Elias - 41.2 lb. BFT...and 3rd Place : Joseph Casas - 40.8 lb. BFT. We departed on our Seeker 5 day Fishin The "Lupe" Charter with Charter masters Bryan Porter and Dennis Kaneoke and the group is headed to Ensenada for check in. Reports to follow "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. August 14, 2011:    Good afternoon from the Intrepid. Today was spent at San Martin Island in search of some different variety. The water cooled down even more overnight, down to a chilly 58 degrees, so we wrote off any chance at Yellows. We made a couple of Halibut drifts inside of the bay with no results, so we decided to run above the Island for some Ling Cod. The Ling and Red fishing was down right good if you could find an area away from the giant squid, those things can be a pain. There were even several times where the Lings would hit the sardine before the weight had a chance to hit the bottom. Our weather and fishing for this trip has been excellent and our small group of anglers have been a blast to spend the last 4 day's with. Tonight's dinner will be a Caesar salad, roasted Prime Rib and Black Forest Cake for desert. Our ETA is 0700. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. August 13, 2011:    Good evening Anglers... This morning we started offshore in Bluefin Country. It didn't take long to find a spot that wanted to bite and these were all on the larger side. We spent about an hour and a half having our butt's handed to us by these 40 to 60 pounders. The bite was almost instant, but only on the 30 to 40 pound line and no heavier. We landed 27 of these feisty fish with probably double that making it back to fight another day. We decided to run in to San Martin to finish up our last day with some different scenery and add some more variety to the mix. Maybe some Halibut or Sea bass? Right now one of our anglers is engaged in an epic battle with what can only be a LARGE Black Sea Bass. 45 minutes and counting on this fish, (which will be released) that decided to bite right after dinner. Wish him luck. The Intrepid Team.

Update... Scott Moll just successfully brought to the surface an estimated 350 pound Black Sea Bass. The hook was removed and the fish was lowered down using a reverse hook technique. What a great fish, maybe we will see him again some day. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. August 12, 2011:    Good evening Anglers... Another fun filled day offshore. The weather and the fishing have definitely been on our side here lately and will hopefully continue. This has been hands down the best Tuna fishing we have seen this year. Our very light charter group (16 fisherman) put the wood to the Bluefin with fish biting past dinner and well in to the dark. Several fish caught this evening were in the 35 to 40 pound range. We will be staying here for the night and hope for a nice early one tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. August 11, 2011:    Good afternoon Anglers. After arriving in San Diego we say good-bye to our fisherman from a fun 6 day adventure. We would like to thank Larry Brown and all who rode with us. Also a special thank you to all of the sponsors who generously donated for our anglers. Avet Reels, Phenix Rods, Shimano, Body Glove, Baja Fish Gear, Big Hammer Swimbaits, Izorline, Sportfishing Magazine, Sportsmen's Seafood, InvisaSwivel, Ken Bush Custom Rods, High Tide Sportfishing's Holy Mackerel & HT Jigs, Long Range Sport Fishing "San Diego Style" Book, Aftco, Booyaa, Owner Hooks, AA Worms/ Optimum Baits, Knot@Kinky Nickel Titanium Wire, Fisherman's Processing, Chuck Byron Art, MDRA Western Outdoor News and Fisherman's Tackle Shop. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Glen Gudaz - 90.4 lb. YFT...2nd Place : John Lind - 73 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place : Larry Brown - 72.2 lb. YFT. We departed on our Amero Investment 4 Day Charter and the group is headed offshore. Check back for reports. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. August 10, 2011:    Good evening anglers. Today we were blessed with great Bluefin fishing with fish up to 45 pounds. We fished until lunch and in that time period we managed 77 Bluefin 3 Yellowfin and a Dorado. We then had to kick it for Ensenada and another very easy check in ( 15 min ) with very nice weather. We will be at the dock at 0730. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. August 9, 2011:    Good evening anglers. Today we were supposed to wake up guns (gaffs) blazing, fish flying, and reals screaming. Right? Well, once you think that you have this Island somewhat figured out, it has the ability to humble you rather quickly. We would have loved to have another chance to put the helium balloon to the test, but the wind, fish, sharks and sea lions did everything they could to keep that from happening. We did manage to hook a handful of Tuna and land one. We had a new guest around the boat today and it was a bigun. I don't know why they just don't eat those brown fury things around us? There are plenty of them. Must like Tuna better. We did manage to catch some nice grade Yellowtail, with two of them over 40 pounds and a lot of quality Calico bass which we released. Tomorrow will be spent offshore trying to catch some more yellow fish. Until then. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. August 8, 2011:    Our efforts here at Guadalupe are starting to pay off. There is still much room for improvement on both sides of the rail, but forward progress it is. Same kind of deal today, at 0900 the fish start boiling around us putting on a great show with very little interest in fly lined baits. With very little wind the kite is not an option. But the helium balloon with a bit of finesse was quick to produce. There were times we were able to have as many as 4 balloons spread around the boat for the hour they remained hungry. We did have our fair share of casualties losing about a dozen fish to pulled hooks and break offs. Even on 50 pound gear these fish can find the occasional victory. We will be staying here one more morning before heading out in search of a kelp or two, so wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. August 7, 2011:    Well, today we had a chance at some Tuna. For just over an hour Yellowfin in the 50 to 100 pound range blew up on baits around the boat putting on a great show. We did manage to hook about 15 of them, but, for a number of different reasons we were only able to land 5. There was also a few handfuls of Yellowtail to go with it, but all in all a tough day. We are currently anchored up at a common Yellowtail night bite spot with one already aboard. We are going to give it a go again in the morning, so wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. August 6, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. After a smooth check-in with customs in Ensenada we headed across to Guadalupe Island. We arrived to find nice sunny conditions in the lee of the Island as well as some nice grade Yellowtail and a nice Tuna for our afternoon. We will be starting our morning here with high hopes and eager anglers. Oh, and there is just something that you have to love about sitting down to a nice Shrimp Scampi dinner while watching a UFC pay per view fight live 220 miles from home. Life is good. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. August 5, 2011:    We returned today from a seven-day trip to Alijos Rocks for the 25th NorCal Tuna Chasers group of 26 anglers with chartermaster Doug Inouye. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Gary Kinoshita - 100.6 lb. YFT...2nd Place : Robert Callejo - 100.4 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place : Mark Fujimoto - 98.2 lb. YFT. Honorable mention goes to Steve Takagi for his 104 lb. YFT on the kite. We departed on our Larry Brown 6 Day Open and the group is headed to Guadalupe Island. Check back for reports. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. August 4, 2011:     We are headed for home happy with our trip and many of the passengers are spending the day playing poker, watching movies or just relaxing. The weather isn't too bad for our ride up the line and we are getting things ready for our up-coming 6 day voyage. The Nor-Cal Tuna Chasers would like to give thanks to the sponsors for this 7 day adventure starting with Skinny-Bombs for all the jigs they donated, Seaguar Fluorocarbon, Accurate Reels,Okuma Reels and Five Star Fish Processing. E.T.A 6:00 am Friday. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. August 3, 2011:    We had very fun kelp paddy fishing today with lots of action on Yellowtail and a few small Dorado which were released to grow into larger models. The action was fast as the Yellows came on strong for us on both sardine and jigs. It was a great way to finish off the fishing part of this trip as we head for home. After the hot bite Javier set up a beautiful Seafood Mountain Buffet for all to feast on.. It just doesn't get any better than this out on a fishing trip! "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. August 2, 2011:    We didn't have the good action today that we had yesterday. We still put together a nice day on quality Tuna and Tails. Quality over quantity has been the theme for this group of Nor-cal Tuna Chasers and today was no exception with some nice fish being caught. The bite pretty much died off around 2:00 pm today so we made some drifts for excellent Cabrilla fishing and some more nice Tails. We are now headed North and will be looking for kelps and offshore Tuna as we make our way home. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. August 1, 2011:    Fishing turned around out here at the Rocks for us today. It wasn't wide open or fast and furious, but just a steady bite. The Yellowfin started showing right at daylight and stayed with us until late in the afternoon which was a nice change from yesterday. We also were able to keep the Yellowtail going throughout most of the day. The Tuna are a nice grade of fish in the 50-100 lb. class and the Yellows are the 20-30 lb. class with some smaller ones in the mix as well. The Nor-cal Tuna Chaser club has a coveted Pink Skirt Award that goes to the last man standing or the last fisherman to boat a fish. Yesterday the last man standing was last years Jackpot winner Ray Mosier, who proudly fished the entire day today with his skirt on! We are all having a blast and will remain here to hope for more good fishing tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. July 31, 2011:    Our first day here at the Rocks was a scratch bite all around. The Tuna bite has been a morning deal and we got here right at the end of it, but did boat a handful of the nice grade Yellowfin before they pulled the disappearing act right at lunch time. The afternoon was spent catching Yellows and Cabrilla with lots of fun being had by all. We will make some bait tonight and be ready for the morning bite tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. July 30, 2011:     Charter master Doug Inouye put out a huge spread of swag donated by many sponsors for this trip. Everyone made out during this raffle today! We spent the rest of the time with seminars and getting all our gear ready for the next few days of fishing. The weather is nice and the travel down swell is even nicer. There is just the right amount of wind for the kites and we hope the fish are in a biting mood for us when we arrive tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. July 29, 2011:    We returned today from our Anglers Choice 5 day trip. Thank you Luc Ofield and everyone aboard for a great trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Tom Johnson - 42.2 lb. YT...2nd Place : Keith Crawford - 36.6 lb. YT...and 3rd Place : Dave Price - 35.6 lb. BFT. We departed at 10:00 am with our Nor Cal Tuna Chasers Annual 7 day charter and will report back soon from the Rocks. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. July 28, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today we finished up our Anglers Choice 5 day with a nice day offshore. We had hopes of some more Tuna and maybe some kelp patty variety. Our day started off great with a few kelps giving up some good Yellowtail action. All the Yellows were a plump 15 to 25 pounds and even a nice Dorado to go with them. The Tuna on the other hand were not nearly as cooperative. Tonight's dinner was a beautiful steak Neptune. Which is a Fillet Mignon topped with asparagus crab meat and Bearnaise sauce. Oh yeah and lobster. After that was blackout chocolate cake. Can you say time for bed. All in all a very fun and successful trip. Thanks Luc. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. July 27, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. This morning was spent at Benitos Island trying to catch some bigger Yellowtail and Bass. We did manage to catch some live squid throughout the night and had hopes of White Sea Bass in the early morning. Well, no Sea Bass, but we did manage some trophy Yellows to 40 pounds, great Calico Bass fishing and some quality Rockfish before running offshore. Tomorrow will be spent closer to home in search of some Tuna. It sounds like there is some Yellowfin mixing in with those stub-urn Bluefin, so we will let you know how it goes. Until tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. July 26, 2011:    Today was spent at Cedros. It took a while to find fish that wanted to bite, but when they did it was epic. The surface iron was definitely a hot ticket. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. July 25, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. This morning was spent fishing Bluefin in an area that has put out some of the better catches lately. The fishing has slowed over the last couple of day's and today continued the trend. We were definitely fortunate to luck in to a stop for 11 Bluefin and 1 Yellowfin. We left the area and fished our way South for a few nice Yellowtail and a couple of surprisingly nice Dorado. We are going to see if we can come up with some squid tonight and will be at Cedros in the morning. Our weather has become nice and our hopes are high for tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. July 24, 2011:    We returned today from our Wahoodad and Willy 8 day trip. Thank you David and Billy and everyone aboard for a great trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Robert Rice - 108.4 lb. YFT...2nd Place : Mark Lee - 100.8 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place : Bruce Coblentz - 99.2 lb. YFT. Congrats to Tyler Sorenson for his 91.6 YFT. We departed at 11:00 am for our Anglers Choice 5 day trip and will report back soon. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. July 23, 2011:     We made a few drifts for some good Red Rock Cod and Ling Cod today to finish up. Catching the Cods on the last day is always a blast and provides excellent table fare for all to take home. We want to give a big thanks to Wahoodad & Willy for their support and putting together a fine group of fun fishing Friends and anglers. The last photo is a group shot taken close to the rocks on a very fun day! E.T.A 6:30 am.

Fri. July 22, 2011:    Travel day for the most part with a stop in the afternoon at San Benito's Island where we enjoyed some Yellowtail action on the Yo-Yo iron and then some drifts in along the kelp lines for some Calico Bass. The first part of our day was spent feasting on our "Brunch On The Intrepid" which was a big hit as always with gourmet food everywhere you looked. Chartermaster Wahoodad helped out by working the carving station, not a bad way to spend some travel time! Tomorrow we will make a stop for some Cod fishing before calling it a trip and continuing up the line. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. July 21, 2011:    Our morning bite was good today for both Yellowfin and more quality Tails. As gray light came on, so did the action, fast action for the first couple of hours. There were times when we were very busy trying to keep up with it all. The kite was going good with the candy baits and flyers producing most of the explosive bites. When 2:00 pm came around and the fish went away as they have the last few days, we had made our best day of the trip here at Alijos Rocks. This afternoon we made some drifts in the shallows and had a ball catching Cabrilla and more Yellows. We are now headed Northbound and will stop again tomorrow afternoon for awhile before continuing up the line. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. July 20, 2011:    We scratched out another day here at the Stones. The quality remains very good with most of the Tuna in the 60-90 lb. range and the Yellows going from 20-35 lbs. The morning is best for the Tuna until around 2 pm when they shut down, then it's off to catch some Yellows. Last night there was a little action on bigger Tails for the guys who wanted them on the dropper loops. A couple of Grouper also came in on the dropper loop as well. We will tough it out again tomorrow, as this is the best shot at Quality Tuna going right now. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. July 19, 2011:     A nice day of fishing here at the Rocks today. We were able to keep fish going all day long with some quality Tuna and Tails coming over the rail. The Tuna are all good ones from 50-90 lbs. and they put on a good show all around the boat, but still don't bite the hooked baits as well as they are showing. The Yellows are nice quality as well, with many of the fish in the 20-35 lb. range. The weather is nice and we even had some sunshine today. Same game plan for tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. July 18, 2011:    Day one here at the rocks was scratch style fishing. There were plenty of fish around the boat, but they just didn't want to bite the hooked baits very well. We did scratch out a nice day on quality Tuna and Yellowtails with some of the Yellowfin in the 90-100 lb. range and most of the fish being 50 lbs. or better. The Yellows showed from time to time and even chased down a few surface irons, but never really got with it. A special moment for father and son Henry Sorenson and his son Tyler who teamed up on a nice Yellowfin today.. We are going to try for squid tonight and spend another nice day here tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. July 17, 2011:    Travel day loaded with Swag from WahooDad & Willy.. The sponsors really came through again for Wahoodad and Willy and this 8 day Intrepid Adventure. Our morning was busy with rigging, tackle seminars and raffles. Everyone was a winner today with a lucky few getting the grand prizes of New Seeker Rods and a new Avet Reel. What a great time! We also watched the Womens Soccer Team loss today on the big screen. Maybe next year girls... Sponsorships for this trip are numerous again. Seeker Rods, Avet Reels, Catchy Tackle, Jerry Brown Line One Spectra, Seaguar Fluorocarbon, Squid-co Tackle, Salas Jigs, Fisherman's Landing Tackle, Sportsmans Seafood, Braid Products and Five Star Fish Processing. What a list of Supporters and Sponsorships! We thank you all, from Wahoodad & Willy and the Intrepid Team.... "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. July 16, 2011:    We returned today from our Douglas/Jamison 8 day trip. Thank you Bob Douglas and Bill Jamison and everyone aboard for a great trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Edward Furu - 108.6 lb. YFT...2nd Place : John Whitley - 92.8 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place : Bob D. Marrocco - 90.2 lb. YFT. We departed at 9:00 am for our Wahoodad and Willy 8 day trip and will report back soon. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. July 15, 2011:    ETA 5:30 am Saturday morning. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. July 14, 2011:    What A Feast!! Today was our "Brunch On The Intrepid" day. It was a true feast as Chef Hector Quintanar and Deron put out a very impressive spread that included King Crab Legs, Crab Claws, Oysters In The Half Shell, Shrimp Cocktail, Honey Baked Ham, Salmon Alfredo, Fried Rice, Beef Stir Fry, Chicken Stir Fry, Eggs Benedict, and a various assortment of pastries. Travel day today as we are trying to make it up the Bluefin Zone and get a few hours of fishing in tomorrow before calling it a trip, and what a wonderful trip it has been. I am not just talking about the good fishing we've had, but more on the great group of Friends that got together on this voyage and the amount of fun everyone had. The atmosphere on the boat was awesome the whole time ! A huge thanks to Baja Fish Gear for their very generous amount of donations for the trip, Mario & Sportsman Seafoods, Avet Reels, Seeker Rods, Bob Sands Tackle and of Coarse Bob Douglas and Bill Jamison for making this such a special trip.. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. July 13, 2011:    What an afternoon we had today! We were traveling North in off colored water with hopes of reaching Cedros by morning when we came across a very large school of Yellowtail. Game On!! We finished up full limits in 2 hours time. It was all good Yellows in the 20-40 lb range, with Valene Garrison landing the biggest of the stop right at 40 lbs. One of those bites you get in on only once in awhile, as every bait and every jig was smashed as soon as it hit the water. In the end we drove away from one of the largest spots of Yellowtail we have seen in a long time. We will be at Cedros tomorrow enjoying a Seafood Buffet in the lee before continuing North.
Raffle drawing winner David Rouse posses with Tackle box designer and Charter-master Bob Douglas with his winning custom made tackle box. Congrats Dave... "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. July 12, 2011:    Today was a tough day for us. We did not boat lots of fish today. We covered lots of water, had some wind, and in the end the green water pushed in on us and shut the door. The sign is still around, but the conditions changed rapidly. When things get right again we are sure there will be more great fishing in this area. Photo's today are of Charter-master Bill Jamison proudly serving all of us Salmon dinner last night and more big Yellowfin caught by the lucky few. Tomorrow we will fish along the Ridge before we head North. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. July 11, 2011:    What a day! Perfect weather, great friends and outstanding fishing. What more could any angler ask for. We caught Yellowfin up to 100 lbs and all the Yellowtail we wanted today! Dinner tonight was fresh King Salmon brought in by Chartermaster Bill Jamison and friend Bud Ruschmaupt and Chef Hector grilled it up something special. We are now off to another area to have some more fun. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. July 10, 2011:    We made it to the Rocks at 2:30 this afternoon and began our search. It didn't take very long to find some fish to get set up on and once we were settled in they began to put on a pretty good show around the boat. Our anglers managed to put together a nice evening of Tuna fishing along with some Yellowtail. There were some good flurries of action and most of the time we had 2 or 3 going. We will try for some bait tonight and see what a full day will produce for us tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. July 9, 2011:    Travel day filled with seminars, raffles and plenty of swag. Bill Jamison and Bob Douglas have really put together a great group of Friends and anglers. The give-aways were tremendous and we would like to thank all the sponsors for this trip, but we will have to spread our thanks out during the trip via several reports. First of all we thank Avet Reels for their support and donation of a brand new reel, Seeker rods for their continued support, Baja fish Gear with tons of jigs and swag. There will be many more to follow and we thank all of you!! "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. July 8, 2011:    Today we returned from our Gary Iwamura 3 day charter. Thank you Gary and everyone aboard for a great trip and we are looking forward to next year. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Clark Saito - 42.2 lb. BFT...2nd Place : Michael Steglic - 36.8 lb. BFT...and 3rd Place - Mark Robb - 28.8 lb. Halibut. We departed before noon on our Open / Douglas / Jamison Group / Baja Fish Gear 8 day so stay tuned for more reports. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. July 7, 2011:    Well, during times of tough offshore fishing it's great to be able to have something to fall back on. Our last day and a half at San Martin have been great. The yellowtail fishing would be considered downright good even on a longer trip. The majority were in the 16 to 22 pound range with a few bigger and a few smaller. The surface Iron and fly line were the hot ticket. Last night we did manage a tank of live squid which did account for the fine Halibut we finished our trip off with. All in all, nice weather, good fishing and a great group of fisherman. Our ETA to the dock is 0700. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. July 6, 2011:    Today was spent offshore in a new area looking for Bluefin and actually catching some. It was the same ol story as far as the weather and the sign of fish went. Plenty of spots up throughout the day crashing on bait, but we did have a couple of spots actually bite for us. No big numbers by any means, but it was nice to see some make it in to our RSW. After lunch we decided to head in to the beach and look for some Yellowtail. Our efforts paid off, and we ended up with 23 quality fish just before dark. Tomorrow morning will be spent Yellowtail fishing and then maybe a look up the beach. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. July 5, 2011:    Today we departed on our Gary Iwamura 3 day charter. With a limited load of 16 anglers we decided to head south and look at some different areas. Not surprisingly, we found Bluefin doing completely different stuff in exactly the same fashion. Yeah, it's just as it sounds. The fish out to the west would stay up feeding and just about let you run them over, not acknowledging us in any way. The fish that we saw today wouldn't let us get near them, they were definitely on the move. Similarity? They don't want to stray from what they are feeding on. Several large spots of fish ranging from 25 to 100 pounds getting heavier by the day. We are going to keep rolling to the south our weather is great and hopes are high. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. July 4, 2011:    Good evening Anglers. Today was spent offshore in pursuit of Bluefin and Albacore. Locating fish was no problem with the flat seas we were blessed with, but getting them to bite was a different story. We probably slid on 20 plus spots of Bluefin, the fish range between 18 and 50 pounds and you had no problem getting within a few feet of them. We did manage to hook a few on the light gear, but were unsuccessful in landing them. With the amount of fish out here I would not hesitate to look in to doing a 1 to 2 day trip. Plenty of fish.... It's just a matter of time. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. July 3, 2011:    We returned today from our CME 8 day trip. Thank you Dan Brink for all your help, and Thanks to everyone aboard for a great trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Fritz Brink - 99.2 lb. YFT...2nd Place : Dan Brink - 90.4 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place - Bill Dunn - 82.4 lb. YFT. We departed at 6:00 pm for our 4th of July 1 1/2 day. Look for a report tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. July 2, 2011:     After a couple of rough days and E-Ticket rides we were blessed by the sea today. We were treated to one of mother natures great shows. A pod of Killer Whales (Orca's) were feeding on a sea lion. We spotted the show due to the large amount of bird life over the scene. There were 4 Orca's in the pod with the alpha male being HUGE!! With the large male was a female that was also good sized and two young whales. After the feast they swam away together a happy family. Very spectacular to say the least... What a way to end the trip! ETA 6:00 am. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. June 30, 2011:    We had lots of wind and waves yesterday making it hard to spot the Bluefin down here. It was a rough day with lots of whitecaps and a bouncy sea state. We caught one lone Yellowtail as we trolled by a kelp and that was it for our day although we do not need or want any more Yellows. Tomorrow we will enjoy a half day in the lee of Cedros while we feast on Javier's Seafood Buffet before we continue up the line to be in position for a last day of Tuna fishing. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. June 29, 2011: Tuna & Tails.. We had a fun day again here at the Rocks. It was Tuna and Tails all morning and into the afternoon. We had some nice Yellowfin today and are approaching the full limits mark on Yellows. The sign here is starting to shape up nicely and we feel there will be some big hits on Tuna any day. The weather remains very good down here. We will give this some more time and then head up the line to search out some more biting Bluefin and hunt for some Albie's. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. June 28, 2011:     What an afternoon we had fishing today as we got on a spot of big Yellows that erupted for us. The current was a little off and it took a couple of anchor jobs to get it just right, but when it happened it happened big! Three hours of wide open Yellowtail fishing here at the Rocks, with this quality, was all it took to get our limits for the day.. Throw in a bonus grouper, a couple of Yellows pushing the 40 lb mark, and a lot of happy anglers, makes for a good day.. The surface jig was Hot!! We will give this another half a day and then spend the rest of the trip out on the hunt. Wish us luck. Roger Pitts would like to wish his wonderful wife a Very Happy Birthday! "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. June 27, 2011:     We spent most of the day traveling Southbound fishing kelps once again. We were able to get some good action in the zone we fished today and again the grade of Yellows was very nice. Kelp fishing can be so much fun at times!! We all had a blast and will continue South to fish Alijos Rocks tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. June 26, 2011:    We started off our trip in the new area of Bluefin that we had found, but were only able to locate one school of Tuna that did not want to bite for us. So we continued on South fishing kelps for a beautiful grade of Yellows for this time of year.. The weather is getting nicer as we go South and the forecast calls for some good weather for the rest of the week. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. June 25, 2011:    We returned today from our 8 day open trip. Thanks again to all aboard for making this a fun trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Leslie Harrell - 37.6 lb. YT...2nd Place : William Doyle - 36.4 lb. YT...and 3rd Place - Gary Nakamura - 35.6 lb. YT. We turned around and left on our CME 8 day trip and will report back soon. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. June 24, 2011:     ETA 7:00 am Saturday morning. We made a move last night to go exploring into another area closer to home that would allow us to get in a half a day of fishing before calling it a trip. The move was the right one, as we found a new area of fish within 150 miles from San Diego. The water in this area was pristine and a perfect 64.5 degrees. We found several different Bluefin schools that stayed with us and acted right. It was a fun morning of running on the spots of breaking fish. We ended up with 31 Bluefin for our morning before heading for home. Young Cole Chivara landed his first ever Bluefin today. Way to go Cole! Cole also aspires to be a chef one day and was helping out Chef Javier during the breakfast throughout the trip. Thanks again Cole.. We have some openings on our 1.5 day trip over the 4th of July. This is looking like a great trip to get out and get a Bluefin now that these fish are moving closer. Give Carol a call (1-877-686-7827) and get some Bluefin Tuna in your freezer!! "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. June 23, 2011:    It was a tough day here on the Tuna grounds for us. We found quite a few spots up breaking, but they were not in a biting mood for us. After a long day we headed North to be in position to fish for half a day tomorrow before calling it a trip. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. June 22, 2011:    Travel day for the most part with the exception of a couple of kelps along the way that produced another handful or two of Yellows. We made it into the lower half of the Bluefin zone with the sun going down and were able to get on one spot right before dark that gave up 3 Bluefin for us. We will move up a little more before shutting down tonight and working the area over tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. June 21, 2011:     What a fun day! Today started and finished with Big Yellows being caught by all. This morning we had a bite on straight 30 lb class fish that eventually died out as the current slacked off. We left the Rocks around 2:00 pm and headed for the Tuna grounds only to stop short on a Huge Kelp that went WFO on a great class of fish. These Yellows were on the chew and they were also 20-35 lbers. Even Chefs Javier and Hector got in on some action this evening landing big Yellows. Tomorrow we will be on the hunt for some Bluefin. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. June 20, 2011:     The Intrepid Team would like to say farewell to our Friend and long time Long Ranger Ray Jarvis who passed away yesterday evening. We will miss you Ray! Our fishing for Jumbo Yellows continues here at the rocks. It was a little on the slow side today, but the quality makes up for it. Everyone is having a blast trying to pull these brutes out of the deep before getting rocked!! We did pick up a couple of Tuna today in the 30 lb class that swam right into the galley for some SUSHI. We will spend the night once again and give it a shot in the morning before deciding on our next plan of attack.. Wish us luck... "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. June 19, 2011:    HAPPY FATHERS DAY! We traveled Southbound for most of the day and arrived at the Rocks around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. After 4 different anchor drops we finally got the hook to stick in place rather than dragging along the bottom. The Yellowtail bite started around 5:00 pm and shut down just before dark, but in that time we boated 100 of these forkies and hooked a couple of nice Yellowfin that eventually chewed through the lighter lines. The sign of life is much better than it was a couple of weeks ago and with a little help from the weather gods things might just work out. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. June 18, 2011:    As we travel South we came across a few spots of Bluefin and a kelp holding some galley Yellowtail. The weather is cold but spirits are high. Tomorrow we will be heading further South on the hunt, maybe giving the Bluefin a few days to re-group..Here are some photos of todays catch. Wish us luck for tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. June 17, 2011:    We departed today on an 8 day open trip and after picking up a load of Sardine's we are headed South. We will keep you posted on our success with our daily reports. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. June 6, 2011:    We returned today from our Allcoast / Wahoodad 8 day trip. Thanks again to Chuck Melber and David Choate for making this a fun trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Chuck Melber - 41.4 lb. YT...2nd Place : Terry Farmen - 37.6 lb. YT...and 3rd Place - Paul Carlisle - 35.2 lb. YT. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. June 5, 2011:     We spent our last morning offshore hunting Bluefin and Albacore. We did hook into one nice BFT that shook the jig out close to the boat, and never connected on the Albacore. One good thing is the water is perfect and we did find 3 spots of Bluefin in the 50-80 lb class crashing on baits. They blew up on our offerings, but refused to bite anything with a hook in it. It looks very promising for upcoming trips!! If you haven't booked your summer trip yet, now is the time, there are some BIG Bluefin Tuna showing up already, and things are just beginning to shape up.. Our E.T.A 9:00 am. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. June 4, 2011:    We had a nice all around day here at Cedros Island. It was very nice to get out of the weather, enjoy a huge Brunch from Javier and Hector, catch some nice Yellows, calico's, and some rays. The fishing was not all that great or anything, but being in calm waters and eating the great meals our chefs provide, let us all relax and shake off the last week of rough and windy weather. Tomorrow we will be looking offshore again as the weather is coming down and we are definitely in the mood for some Tuna if they will show themselves to us. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. June 3, 2011:    BREAKFAST WITH THE WHALES.. As we traveled up the line mother nature treated us to a splendid showing of Fin-back Whales just after daylight. We were able to get in close and get some nice photos while drifting with them. Breakfast was served as a whale rose to the surface right next to the boat. One of the many wonders of the sea.. Tomorrow we will be enjoying the lee of Cedros and getting out of the weather for the first time during our trip. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. June 2, 2011:    A day of action! We spent the whole day pulling on nice Yellows. It was the day we were looking for after the last couple of days of rather slow fishing. It took a little looking around early this morning and an anchor job or two, but when we found em it was game on. They came up in the corner and attacked us. Everyone on-board is tired and happy enjoying a nice Javier style prime-rib dinner while watching the NBA Finals game. Tomorrow we will be traveling mostly, but will stop and give a couple areas a check along the way. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. June 1, 2011:    Another day of quality yellows in the 30 lb. range for us. Today the bite was a bit more diverse with some yo-yo jigs bringing in some nice ones and fly-line and dropper loop also working well. The action was not fast paced, but the size of these fish made up for it. We are now on the move to hunt down some faster paced action. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. May 31, 2011:    We arrived at the Rocks around lunch time to find great conditions, but little sign of fish around. We looked around and moved around a few times before we found a spot of quality Yellows in the 30 lb range. We scratched away for the evening and are hopeful things turn for the better tomorrow. The weather has backed off a bit and the forecast looks good for the next couple of days. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. May 29, 2011:    AWAY WE GO!! We are back out on the high seas and rolling along southbound. The Intrepid has a new paint job on her hull and rear house areas. She is looking, feeling, and smelling like a new ship again. We made a few adjustments in our tackle storage for our fishermen and women that we feel will make things even nicer and more manageable than before. We hope you will enjoy some of the new comforts added to our vessel. This is a new trip added to our schedule and is sponsored by ALLCOAST.com and Wahoodad himself as Charter master. Javier is already working his magic in the galley today. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. March 30, 2011:    We returned today from our Catchy Tackle 15 day trip. Thanks again to Wayne Martin for making this a fun trip. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Bruce Waters - 252 lb. YFT...2nd Place : Dennis Ulich - 244.4 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place - Mike Lovelle - 241 lb. YFT. Honorable mention goes to Paul Jessup with his 289 lb. YFT. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. March 29, 2011:    The last couple of days have been spent traveling up the line in rough weather. We are on schedule for a 6:30 am arrival on Wed. morning though. We want to give a big Thanks to Wayne Martin and CATCHY TACKLE for their continued support throughout the season and for this 15 day adventure. This is our last trip of the season and we will be in for boat work starting next week. Avet Reels and Seeker rods also deserve a big thanks for their sponsorship of the Intrepid operation. Richard Hightower has been a huge supporter and contributor to the Intrepid Team and the entire fleet and we would like to wish Richard a Very Happy Retirement and continued fishing success. Thanks Richard!! E.T.A 6:30 am Wed. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. March 25, 2011:    Our last day was spent with a few big Tuna in the morning and a nice bite on the Wahoo throughout the afternoon. It was some fun fishing for a beautiful grade of skins today. We had several stops with multiple jig strikes and lots of others hooked-up on the Catchy Tackle Bombs and Irons. It is always exciting to see the Wahoo flashing across the stern as they attack a jig or bait. The perfect way to finish off our stay down here. We are now on our way up the line in sloppy, bumpy weather. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. March 24, 2011:    More big fish and more good times! What more can a boat full of happy anglers ask for. We scratched out another day down here and have one more day of fishing before we head for home. The wind has picked up again this evening and we are rock-n-rollin a bit, but overall its not to bad. Tonight we make some bait, get a little rest and fish hard again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. March 23, 2011:    Another nice day of fishing for us down here. We were able to keep a fish or two going for most of the day and with the Wahoo coming through from time to time it was a good day. The tuna were all nice grade fish with a couple of standouts that included fish over the 200 lb mark and one fish that came in at 305 lbs. Big fish honors go to Paul Jessup for his Supercow. This fish has a big story to go along with it, as it was one of the meanest, toughest, and hardest fighting fish we have encountered. After 2.5 hours of hard fighting the fish decided to throw us a curve ball and shoot under the boat and try and get away using the props and rudders, but Mike Pritchard didn't hesitate to jump in and work it out through the stern adding a sinker onto the line and eventually bringing the fish to the boat. What a battle!! "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. March 22, 2011:    We put together a very nice day of fishing today. The conditions this morning were not very good for Tuna fishing so we opted to target the Wahoo for the first half of the day. It was some exciting action at times and everyone boated some skinnies to drop in the RSW well. This afternoon we found ourselves in the right place to get in on a bird school that just popped up close enough for us to get on. The Tuna fishing for the last few hours today was what everyone dreams about when planning a Long Range Adventure. The action was fast and explosive! The Yellowfin were all 140 lbs to over 200 lbs with the majority being in the 180 lb class. We did loose 2 fish in the bite that were acting like real Jumbo's. The new 3X5 Super Seeker Rod is a beast and a must have for anyone who targets trophy Yellowfin. The 3x5 paired up with Salty's "Rail Dog" put the wood to some big tuna today. Tonight we will get back to catching bait and be ready for whatever tomorrow brings us. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. March 21, 2011:    Scratch fishing today for both the Big Tuna and the Wahoo. The morning bite never got going, so after a few hours and only a couple of fish we were back on the hunt. We found a large bird school way out to the Southwest that was holding fish, but they didn't want to bite for us although they did put on a good show crashing on baits. After lunch the conditions started to change and good life began to show. We were fortunate to get on a spot of fish that wanted to bite for a few hours this afternoon and save our day. Big fish today went to Eric Traut who landed a fish around 225 lbs. Lou Jimenez also got a nice fish around 175 lbs. We will enjoy Javier's Baby Back Ribs tonight before catching more bait for tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. March 20, 2011:    Today was our first full day down here and we were able to put together a pretty nice day of big Tuna fishing. The morning bite was best with the smallest fish at 140 lbs and the biggest fish going to Dennis Ulick at 250 lbs. Bruce Watters landed his first cow that came in at 237 lbs and Mike Lovelle landed one at 231 lbs. Charter master Wayne Martin got in on the cow action today as well landing one at 201 lb. Eric Traut also got one that was right on the cow mark. The midday lull allowed us to go out on the hunt and find some nice Wahoo to add to our catch. We will make some bait after dinner and get back at it tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. March 19, 2011:    We made it to the island around 10 am this morning. After a pleasant check in and inspection we headed out into the wind, and windy it was today with close to 25 knots coming from the north-east. It took several hours to get some fish located, but once we found them we put together a nice afternoon of 25 nice grade Yellowfin. Big fish today came for Jared Waid who battled this mean spirited cow for just under 2 hours, finally landing him after dark. Jared used his 130 lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon which was donated by Richard Hightower for all on board. Thanks Richard.. We will catch some bait tonight and be ready for them in the morning.. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. March 18, 2011:    Final day of prep. It was an all day task for most to get in the last seminars and put the final touches on their gear. Some of those who finished up early chose to kick back and relax. The weather is getting nicer by the minute. Parting shot is of Charter Master Wayne Martin with his trademark Bubble blowing off the bow as we continue southbound. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. March 17, 2011:    We made a quick stop by the Alijos Bank and withdrew a few 30+ lb Yellows to have for lunch tomorrow. It wasn't a great bite, but what we caught was excellent quality. One big seminar today and the rest was spent rigging and getting ready. Another travel day in front of us tomorrow with a kite fishing and Wahoo seminar to finish up our preparations. We should arrive at our destination around 0900 Saturday morning. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. March 16, 2011:    We are out on the Big Blue once again. The Catchy Tackle group is enjoying the ride down swell as the weather is up a bit and cool with 15 knot's of wind blowing in from the Northwest. Today we had our first seminar followed by a big give-away for all. We want to give a big thanks to Seaguar Fluorocarbon for their most generous donation of a spool of 130 lb fluoro for every passenger!! Also CATCHY TACKLE giving everyone multiple jigs and bombs for the Wahoo fishing. Lots of tackle preparation and making of wind-ons and top-shots were the focus today. Tomorrow we will get into the big tuna seminars. A special thanks to Mark Winbiggler for all the fresh fruits, Delicious!! "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. February 13, 2011:    We returned today from our "Rod Rack" 15 day trip. Thanks again to Steve Volkers. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Derek Appleman - 225 lb. YFT...2nd Place : John Todd - 209 lb. YFT...and 3rd Place - Tim Smith - 206.7 lb. YFT. Honorable mention goes to Bill Falls with his 240 lb. YFT. We will be at the Fred Hall Show in Long Beach 3-9 through 3-13 and then depart 3-15 for our final trip, The Catchy Tackle 15 day. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. February 12, 2011:     HUGE THANKS to Steve Volkers and "The Rod Rack" for sponsoring this adventure, we missed you Steve...We had some tough conditions on this trip with the weather picking up for a few days during our stay down below that definatly challenged us. Although, we do come home with a fine catch of Big Yellowfin and a fair catch of Wahoo despite the tough conditions thrown our way. All of us here on " Team Intrepid" want to give all our friends and supporters a big Thank You for your support throughout the season. We will be off line for a month before we finish up with our final 15 day Catchy Tackle trip departing on Tuesday March 15th returning on March 30th. This trip falls after the Fred Hall Show, so we will see you there!! E.T.A 6:00am Sunday. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. February 11, 2011:    Today was Javier's "Brunch On The Intrepid" day. Of coarse it was a huge hit for all on-board. Javier and Hector put a tremendous amount of effort and time in preparing this feast for all to enjoy. Movies and naps are the favorite past time on a day such as this one with everyone stuffed with incredible gourmet food. The weather is on the windy side, but the sea state is nice as we make our way towards home. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. February 10, 2011:    "THE RAIL DAWG"
Salty Dawg," Bill Haven," has a new for-grip that replaces the soft Hypo on your Rail Rods. This system is ultra tuff and withstood the abuse of many big fish fought using the rail. The new grip didn't tear or hurt the rod in any way like the softer Hypo that is normally on the rod. We really put it to the test using the rod as a "kite rod" for the trip and we are impressed with how well the new grip held up. Thanks for the Prototype Salty!! We are making good time traveling up in nice weather and enjoying some fine Sushi prepared by Chef Javier. Tomorrow is "Brunch Day". "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. February 9, 2011:    Our last morning out on the grounds was another productive one on fish in the 120-200 lb range. We did suffer 5 heartbreaks on cows though. For whatever the reason, hooks pulling, connections, or just mean spirited fish as we said yesterday, these fish won there freedom after long battles. This trip had its share of heartbreaks and has left anglers with many stories of big fish that simply would not give up. We all love to see every one of them hit the deck, but honestly, as frustrating as it is to see them get away, it is rewarding and puts a smile on our faces to know that Giant Yellowfin will battle to the end and live on to fight again another day. We are now headed up the line in beautiful conditions. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. February 8, 2011:    Another good day of fishing for us out here on bird schools. The weather is getting nicer each day and is helping us locate more spots to run and gun with. Today we had several different spots to work with and were able to pick off fish with each of them. The Tuna were the same 120-180 lb class with two more cows landed in the mix. W have to let everyone know just how mean spirited and hard fighting these fish seem to be right now, they just do not give up and have been battling each angler to the very end. We did lose a couple of big fish today, but they earned their freedom. What a blast!! "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. February 7, 2011:    Back On Track.... We were blessed with calm conditions and good fishing today. Shortly after daylight we found a bird school forming and by the time we got to it, it was a full blow frenzy of birds diving on baits as the Tuna crashed the surface. Our all day drift yielded another 44 Yellowfin from 80-220 lbs with most of the fish being in the 140-180 class. Highlight was 78 year old Dimitri Kalsas from Florence Arizona landing his first ever Cow Tuna. Congratulations Dimitri. Hot Stick was Timothy Smith who boated 5 Trophy Tuna today including one over the 200 lb mark. We look forward to giving this another try tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. February 6, 2011:     After an E-Ticket ride back to the Buffer Zone we got into the Lee around 2:00 pm, then washed the reels and rods along with the boat with some much needed fresh water. We kicked back for a little while and let everyone relax after the bumpy ride before we headed out to the south in search of bird schools. We only found one small spot that was very hard to see as the conditions were still not the best for looking or drifting, but managed to boat 14 tuna from 80-210 lbs. We will spend the night protected and get some much needed rest before we get back to it tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. February 5, 2011:     The travel down swell out to the Bank was a nice change after bouncing around all day yesterday, but once we got here it was very hard to troll and drift once a fish was hooked. The weather is still up and blowing a good one. We did get the pick down and picked off some nice Wahoo and one good Tuna around 100 lbs for the day. We also had lots of fun catching and releasing many smaller grade Tuna in the process. The forecast calls for the weather to lay down over the weekend, so we hope the fish will respond and get back on the bite. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. February 4, 2011:    We were optimistic for another good hit after yesterdays find, but things have changed, mostly with weather really kicking up. Today we had a steady 25 knots of wind and a heavy sea state to go along with it. We never found a school today, although we searched and bounced and splashed along all day. We caught a big zero. So by 4:00 pm we decided to head for the Bank and try for some Skin and some anchor style fishing. We should arrive around 11:00 am. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. February 3, 2011:    We got to the outside zone early today and it didn't take long for Jesus to spot a Breezer of Big Yellowfin for us to work with. We got on em and they stayed with us all day long. The end result today was 53 Big Tuna that had a handful of fish over the 200 lb mark with most of the fish in the 120-180 lb class. It was a good day for the kite as we made it through a full rotation and then some. The Double Trouble was the hot ticket, but we did get a few Big-uns on the Candy bait as well. The weather has picked up considerably with 15-20 knots of wind and heavy seas that took its toll on us in the form of pulled hooks mostly, but we still made the most of it. We will get her all cleaned up and re-load for tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. February 2, 2011:    We arrived at the Island just after daylight and immediately headed for our check in. After a lengthy check in and inspection we headed out to the South looking for bird life or porpoise. Things were looking pretty bleak by mid afternoon and nothing to show for our efforts, but then we found a school and were able to boat 21 Tuna from 110-190 lbs. Bill "Tuna Tyme" Jamison landed a fish just under the 200 lb mark and wants to say " hello to his wonderful wife Delores". "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. January 31, 2011:    Our stop by the Bank was very good as we were able to pull on some quality Yellows to 36 lbs and a few nice Grouper for the dinner table. Everyone was able to get a line wet and contribute some fish for the cause before we got back on track and headed South. Tomorrow we will be holding our final seminars and double checking our gear before getting in on some fishing action. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. January 30, 2011:    Travel days filled with rigging and raffles. We want to thank Steve Volkers and "The Rod Rack" for the many gifts and raffle items for this trip. We have been blessed with nice weather for our travels and are making good time. Tomorrow we might make a quick stop for some dinner items. "The Intrepid Team"

Wed. January 19, 2011:    We returned today from our WestCoastFishing.com 12 day trip. Thanks again to Jon Bakos our Chartermaster. Jackpot winners are....1st Place : Joseph Wisener - 324 lb. YFT...2nd Place : Ron Sleight - 318 lb. YFT...3rd Place - Chris Pauley - 281.2 lb. YFT. We will be at the International Sportsman's Exposition in Sacramento Thursday thru Sunday. Stop by and see us if you are in the area. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. January 18, 2011:    Final day of travel, the vessel is all scrubbed up and looking good, we took the time to get ahead on some projects before getting back to port. Pics today are some of the Tuna caught throughout our stay down in the Buffer Zone. A reminder of how fortunate we are to have this option as a destination for Long Range fishing..Otherwise our day was spent with movies, cribbage, and some poker. A final Thanks goes out to John Bakos and WestCoastFishing.com for sponsoring this 12 day adventure as well as numerous Tackle Shops and fishing enthusiasts, Avet Reels, Izorline, Catchy Tackle, Seaguar Fluorocarbon and Seeker Fishing Rods. Weather is still as good as it gets for making way up the line. Our ETA is 0930 Wednesday. "The Intrepid Team"

Mon. January 17, 2011:    BRUNCH ON THE INTREPID... Today was our JUMBO Buffet day. Chefs Javier and Hector really went all out on this one! They started with the prepping around 7:00 pm last night and resumed at 4:00 am this morning to put out one of the best spreads of Gourmet Cuisine found in the fleet or on any vessel for that matter. It was a HUGE hit as always for the guests on this 12 day voyage. I will let the pictures do the talking. The weather remains beautiful for traveling up the line and we are making up time finally and should be in port relatively early Wed. morning. "The Intrepid Team"

Sun. January 16, 2011:    Traveling up in beautiful weather today although we are still pushing against a strong current. A day of relaxing and story telling of the experiences had down below and a few movies to help spend the day. Some of the guys have started breaking down their gear and preparing for their trips back home once we arrive on Wed. morning. "The Intrepid Team"

Sat. January 15, 2011:    We left the Bank just after lunch today with a decent morning of Wahoo fishing. The skinnies were around and bit well at first, but backed off rather quickly so we put the anchor over the side and began to empty our bait boxes. They responded with a flurry and we were able to pick off a few more before the Tuna came in a shoved them out of the way. The Yellowfin were 30-100 lbs and provided lots of action for us, although most of the fish were released to grow into larger models for the future. It was a fun filled morning with lots of bent rods and happy anglers eager for some fast pace fishing after the last few days of scratch style on the trophies. We are headed home in a heavy uphill current, but the sea state is nice and making for a nice ride. We will continue to report throughout our travels for the next few days with lots of photos. "The Intrepid Team"

Fri. January 14, 2011:    Another SUPERCOW for us today. Lucky angler was Joseph Wisener who came all the way from Indiana with his wife Michelle to catch Giant Yellowfin. The bite was best in the morning hours as has been the trend for the last few days. We put together a nice catch today of Tuna from 80-310 lbs, with the majority of the fish around 150 lbs. We our now on the move to try and add some Wahoo to the catch for our last day of fishing down here. This afternoon we were treated with a fine Sushi spread from Chef Javier that was delicious. Wish us Luck. Jon Bakos sends his love home to his wife Jess and his daughter Andie. "The Intrepid Team"

Thur. January 13, 2011:    Today started out with a bang as the first fish hooked on a big bait was for Russell Greve who lost a big fish yesterday. Russell was ready for his second chance and made the most of it landing a very nice Tuna that taped out at 240 lbs. Soon after he hooked into his fish we hooked a few more jumbo's and we ended up boating several more fish that came in at 267 lbs, 285 lbs, and one that just taped out at 300 lbs. It was a good morning indeed. The rest of the day was a scratch bite with 18 fish that were all in the 120-180 lb class. We will catch more bait tonight and do it again tomorrow. Wish us luck. Wed. January 12, 2011:    The Tuna fishing was pretty good for us today as we were able to keep at least 1-3 hanging most of the day. There were a couple of slow periods throughout the day, but overall it was a steady pick on nice grade Tuna between 110-180 lbs. We were on the unfortunate side of a couple of Jumbo fish that won there freedom after very long and hard fought battles. Both of these brutes were very large fish and provided big heartbreaks in the end. We will catch more bait and try again tomorrow. David Tang would like to say hello to his beautiful wife Donna. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Tues. January 11, 2011:    For our first day down here in the zone we were greeted with wind and waves and the catching has slowed down a bit from the previous trips in this area. We did put together a day of quality Tuna and Wahoo despite the change in the weather. Tonight we will make a tank of big baits and get back to work tomorrow. Wish us luck. We are all ready for the fishing to begin and will be in the zone around 0400 tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"

Happy New Year From Intrepid Sportfishing

Sat. January 1, 2011:    Good Evening Anglers. After yesterdays epic fishing we tried to concentrate on bigger fish and were rewarded with a few handful's of 130 to 170 pounders. Some on the kite, some on flylined mackerel and some on the sardine. Our weather has changed a bit, with windy conditions to finish off our day. We are now northbound, with a healthy catch of yellowfin and 22 happy anglers. Until tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"
